Hey guys,
So today I finished removing the original Midway 2-on-2 Hockey PCB, the original old power supply unit, and any unwanted wiring as I prepare to finish the sanding and painting process.
My question is with respect to powering this beast and getting everything to turn on with the existing power switch on the back top left hand corner of the cab.
I am looking to purchase a new ATX power supply, and would like to know what is required to allow for the marquee, the monitor (original 15hz Wells Gardner U2000 in great shape), the coin door leds and the PC and all parts in one swift switch. I have little-to-no prior work with in the electrical aspect but know a few people who do, so as long as it isnt mind blowingly difficult to pull off, I was hoping for some help.
Also, when it comes to purchasing my new PSU, does brand, watts or any other features/specs matter or should I just be looking for the best deal out there on any ol' generic PSU?

The monitor, marquee light are usually AC powered. The power switch on the cab is meant to switch AC. An ATX supply can be rigged up to provide 5 V and 12 V for leds ad other parts. See this link (http://www.instructables.com/id/SUHZKI8FVKOK4GR/). It is safer to have a power supply for your PC and a another for LEDs Lamps and Amps. The PC on button can be used to turn on power to everything in your cabinet using a smart AC power bar.

OK, so the power supply from the cab was in prettttty rough shape. I removed it and would like to just simply replace it and have a new one to run the marquee and monitor etc from but don't know what I'm looking for or where to get it.

and they seemed to have a pretty wide selection. To run a MAME cab and for only the required items being plugged into it, which one am I best suited to get?

The first one listed is used in alot of cabs it should be fine to drive your lights. 110W (http://www.happcontrols.com/powersupplies/80006400.htm)
If your cab had and isolation transformer you will still need it to provide safe power to your monitor.

OK so I was actually able to find my EXACT power supply that was in rough shape which I removed, brand new online.

When I gutted the cab I also removed what looks to be the isolation transformer, but the thing was absolutely huge, and I have no idea how safe, or how reliable this thing is as it looks to be in rough shape also. If I were to replace this, where on earth am I going to find one, and what should I be looking for when I do?
I suppose essentially I want to be able to run my PC, the marquee, coin door slots and the monitor safely and properly, but all this is very much confusing me. I am starting to get fuzzy on what I do, and what I don't really need to pull this off. Is the PSU from the link above really necessary? I read in some other posts that most people just power their marquee via their PC power supply (ATX)? I am obviously looking to keep costs down, but if the isolation transformer and cab power supply are needed for what I need, I would be much more confident in using ones that didn't look like they had a small fire inside them at one point :laugh:
Could someone try and help me with my issue so I know exactly what I need and what to look for in the way of parts when it comes to powering this thing?

No the exact supply is not necessary since you have stripped your cab. A general purpose ATX supply will give you all the 5 V and 12V power you need. You can also take the 12V and 5V power from extra drive connectors on the ATX supply that you have for your computer. You can only power your marquee light from a 12V or 5V source if you switch to PC lighting or LEDs. You can even use a flourescent if you get one of the 12V type used for camping. They have a HV PS built in that allows it to work on 12V. It is not easy to tell you the exact PS that you need unless you say exactly what you are going to be using in your cab.
You do however need an isolation transformer if you monitor originally needed one.
