I have someone trying to sell me a Wells Gardner 25" monitor, model 25K7107. He says the picture is dim, but only in certain spots (i.e.bottom left corner)
He also says the left side is dimmer than the right side.
The capacitors have never been replaced. Does this sound like a cap issue, or is the tube on its way out?
Please help!

The symptom of "uneven brightness" and overall dimness are indicators of bad electrolytic capacitors. This is a 20 year old monitor and it certainly could use a capkit.

If the glass is clean, then yes I'd have to say start with a cap kit.
(you'd be surprised how many "dim" screens turn out to be just dirty)
The K7000's are very good monitors IMO.
It will probably need the general going over of the chassis for like cold solder joints, caps, etc.
Worst case scenario the tube may need a bit of rejuvinating, but special equipment needed for that. Just depends on how well the cap kit helps.

I heard a rejuvenator will only temporarly fix the problem.
I guess I want to know if it is worth it. Its only $100

Any thoughts? The left bottom corner looks bad, I just want to make sure it should be fixed up with a cap kit.

What are we looking at exactly? Looks good to me.

The bottom left corner is very dim compared to the rest.(Look at character select screen)
I just want to know if its more symptoms of bad caps or bad tube.
I'm not sure, so I don't want to buy it if it is on its last legs.

Could be a few things - including degaussing. I'd try that first.

I'd unplug the video cable and turn the screen/brightness up a bit and see if those are black streaks down the left side.
If they are.... then yeah, cap it. (probably needs done anyways)

Ok, I bought the monitor, haven't messed with it yet.
I will try degauss, then unplugging the video, after that I will try my hand at capping it.
What is the kit I want? K7000 I'm assuming

If it's original, I might. Like the G07s, they're seeing their age and are starting to fail.
Luckily K7000 flys are as cheap as G07.

ok, got the monitor, degauss did nothing. There are black bars on the side as mentioned by Kevin. There are also light horizontal lines that don't go away unless I crank the brightness.
The red seems to be very dim compared to the green and blue, here is the color test

You need to cap it first.
The thin horizontal lines looks like the SCREEN on the flyback needs turned down a hair. (but you will loose some overall brightness)
But I really recommend capping in and then readjusting everything. You can adjust it all day long and as soon as you cap it you will have to do it again anyways.
Some of the dimness may be the tube itself, but once again, cap it first.

Standard K7000. I'm going to order some caps soon for some other monitors, would you like me to get a K7000 for you too? $7.00 plus shipping. These will be hi-temp caps.
And I'm also in the camp of "there is something wrong with your tube".

C57 (47uf 160v) is a common culprit of the dark/jail bar symptoms shown specifically on the left side.
Cap it.....
