Title: some computer help
Post by: Shieldwolf on July 22, 2003, 01:13:54 am
I need some help with buying a computer.

I know I want a dvd rom for daphne games
a 7500 radeon card or if there is something better now that video card ( by better I mean for a wg 9200 monitor)
an 80 gig hard drive for games and music and a decent sound card nothing special but something that will give me some good sounds and finally I need a to figure out what processor to get. I have a 2600 athlon now, but  I feel like I may need somthing a little faster for KI KI2 and a couple of other games. Any suggestions?

Whats the Max processor that your motherboard supports?  Buy that one.

But I would wait, because most likely, that cpu will drop in price.

Standard PC compenent buying strategies apply when buying a highend PC for a mame cab.

hehe, wait ten years and that 80GB HD will only be $15.00, a 2.4Ghz CPU maybe $75.00......Good things happened to those who waits, but they just fall behind.  ;)

Don't bother with a faster cpu than you already have. There is no reason to. The Athlon 2600 should play every game you want besides games that are unplayable by any computer. I wouldn't try to play daphne games off a dvd better to rip your mpegs to the harddrive. 80gb is fine now but if your looking long term go for like 200GB. These new hard drive games are monsters so are the daphne mpegs. The radeon 7500 is a decent card it's not the top for 3-D games but it more than adequate for emulators.
