and basically had the same issue only it was blue that was not displaying instead of red.
long story short i re-flowed all the solder on the neck board and plug it all back in but nothing seemed to change. then i took it out one more time to further inspection when i came to find this...

Looks like one of the pins from the tube has broken off in the neck board... is this thing fubar? i was gonna do a cap kit but now im kind of discouraged...
let me just say im new to monitor repair, im an amature at best to electronics repair but i do have lots of experience soldering modchips on ps2s and such so i know my way around a soldering iron i supose. anyway. should i just replace this POS or is there some way to repair it? again im new to monitors and from what i hear new WG monitors arent so hot so what would be a good replacement for the 25" U2000 (its in a KI cabinet)
here is a video of my walkaround when i first picked up the arcade

sorry mods could you move this to the Monitor/Video Forum i thought i was posting under that forum.

If you could get a bit of solder on the bit of pin showing in the socket you might be able to get it to make contact again but I doubt that you can remove the pin and solder it back where it belongs without wrecking you tube.
-
OK... so i got that piece out of there, i just ended up desoldering that one plastic piece and pulling it out the back... (maybe it was over kill to desolder the thing but i didnt want to mess up the plastic piece). here are a few pics...

the top one is the one that is missing... that bottom one just stayed with that plastic piece... : ( i think its actually fubar now...

Um.... yup..... not looking so pretty now.
You took all the right steps, it's just the way those things go some times.
Since you have an otherwise working chassis you could always shoot for a tube swap if you can find a compatible sized tube. (right overall size, right neck pinout, etc)
-
yeah thats what i figured... should i start looking at 25 inch tvs or where could i find a compatible tube?
-
If you end up replacing the entire monitor I would be willing to buy the chassis from you. My U2000 Chassis took a dive and I have been unable to fix it...Let me know...
