Post by: Joust on December 12, 2009, 10:56:06 pm
I'm a total newb to compiling.
I'm not getting anywhere.

is there an idiots "how to" guide on how to compile mame?
if not, can someone give me a clue?

BTW I'm trying to get it running on fedora 12.

Head over to Arbee's... Someone over there will know how to compile it for your distro:

thanks I found something through a round about way on other sites.
I'm surprised that there is nothing here.
All linux stuff here seems to have huge assumptions that everyone that touches it is a developer and should automatically know what to do with the source.
I'm just a little disappointed.

What linux distro are you using?

I use Ubuntu 9.04 and SDLMame. This compiles automatically with a deb file which can be downloaded from here:
http://sdlmame.wallyweek.org/download/ (http://sdlmame.wallyweek.org/download/)

When initially installed you will need to configure the mame.ini file but after that it should work.
