Title: Nintendo Vs. conversion to Playchoice 10. Can it be Done?
Post by: urbecrisch on December 12, 2009, 12:17:15 am
I want to convert an Excitebike Vs. CAB to a playchoice 10.  Can this be done? Tried searching online and on the forum but no luck.  Any help?

Anything CAN be done.... just how bad do you want it ?

I'd recommend downloading the manuals for each and comparing them.
(wiring schematics etc)

It certainly can be done.

I would recommend instead of converting it to Playchoice to convert it to be an NES cabinet.

The Playchoice games were mostly unmodified NES games with a timer and some hints.

IF you convert the cab to NES you will have access to many more games much more readily and cheaply.

To do this right you will need to replace the NES PPU with the Playchoice PPU to enable RGB output on the NES.  There are guides on the net to do this and it's not too hard.

Didn't somebody talk about making a VS/PC switch kit at some point ?

I remember thinking it was a great idea -- I'm not a Ninty fan and being able to dual-purpose my existing VS Uni cab would be very handy. For some reason, my kids totally love the idea of the PC and the timer and also dig the VS games.
