Title: ipac wont go from XP to Mac OS9
Post by: taylormadelv on December 11, 2009, 04:41:18 pm
My ipac works great on my pc running XP but when I plugged it into an old imac g3 running os9, it wouldn't work. I have a special project I would like to use the ipac for and I need it to work with an old imac g3 running os9.
This was very disappointing because I have ipacs that currently work with old macs just fine.
The system profiler shows the ipac connected to the imac but the ipac will not send typing commands no matter what I do.
I recall an old mac os9 utility but I can't find it anywhere now. The new mac utility will only run on os x for me.
I did reset the ipac to defaults with the winpac utility on XP before moving it to the mac. Is there another way to reset it to work with the old mac?
I tried different usb inputs, I tried a pass through keyboard. When I reconnect it to the PC, it works great.

I just learned from Andy that the new ipacs are not compatable with old Macs anymore. ;(
This quote from the Ultimarc webite is now incorrect "Fully compatible with all Apple Macs which have USB ports"...
I guess the KeyWiz may be the only other option? The DIY X-Arcade kit needs a special adaptor to work with old Macs.
Andy said old ipacs used a "low speed" USB and the new ones use "high speed" USB that's incompatable with old Macs.
Is the KeyWiz "low speed" or "high speed"?
