This is a tiny release to follow v0.953b:
I had to remove the movie screen-saver for now to get around the Win98 installation problem. Also fixed a small filtering bug.

anyone else getting a problem where some screenshots are not showing up? not with mame but with other emulators mainly. like zsnes and visualboy advance i have the screens but they show just a black screen not even the no snap? any idea? i'v tried changing the image resizing option and stuff to.

Steve,
I don't know what the filtering bug was, but I think I may have run into another filtering problem:
I select a custom game list, go into the filtering options, select the category filters, and select the "show all categories" option. MAMEWAH filters the games, and I suddenly end up with about 1800 games instead of 3500-ish. Also, all the games have just their name listed, instead of the "Asteroids (rev2)" style listing.
I'm more than willing to chalk this up to "user error", but I can't figure out why it's cutting my game list in half (and changing the way the games are displayed.)
Any ideas?
Kevin

I"ll just pop in to say it works a treat for me :D (originally had problems with 98 with version 952) Thanks for the great program and the VERY Speedy update!

Are you using different layouts for these emulators? If so, make sure you are refering to the correct Artwork # Path...

The way the game descriptions are displayed is due to a default setting for custom lists - go into 'Emulator Settings' > 'Misc Settings' and change the 'Display Clone Info (in Custom Lists)' option to 'Yes'. This will not take effect until you re-generate the list.
I am not sure about the filtering problem - I just tried what you said and it works OK. Try 'Games List Options' > 'Clear Current Custom List' and then re-generate the list - this will reset the filters.
Let me know if the problem persists...

Not that exactly, but I have still been seeing a problem with it deleting my snaps. When exiting mame, you receive a run time error (52 I believe is the exact error number) and it proceeds to delete your snap from the directory. Rather annoying, but only happens once in a while. Does it for non-mame as well.

Are you using the 'Artwork #1 Filename to Replace' option? This is the only time a snapshot would ever be deleted (if it already exists). The run-time error 52 means bad filename, so something is going amiss.
Double check that there is absolutely nothing in the above option - no need for it in MAME anyway. Please let me know if the problem persists...

question for minwah....i have v.92b and i was wondering, if i upgrade and download either the 93 or 94b programs....will i have to do my custom list all over again??? that took me a while seeing in that i had multiple copies of games, but some were better than others. anyway, will i have to do everything over again?

I'd recommend a clean install - BUT keep the '.LST' files from the 'FILES' folder and you can still use these with the latest versions.
In fact, even uninstalling your current version should leave these files there - if you do this and install the new version into the same folder then make sure you delete all the .CFG files from the 'FILES' folder.

its the correct path because the strange thing is, some snaps show up, and the ones i didnt originaly have snaps for show the nosnap image, and then some that i know i have snaps for just show a black space, no snap and no nosnap image. just black.

I had a thought - are there any other files in your 'snap' path(s) other than image files, like saves or something? It may be trying to display an image that is not an image file (I changed this part a little...)

ya its in the same folder as my roms, i didnt even think of that. i will move them [like i should have anyways] and see if that works.
thanks
-------------------------------
ok done that and now it works. if it has files with that same name, even if there not a picture extension it messes them up. so its working now once i moved the snaps to there own folder.
thanks again

Great, it's probably best if you keep your snaps and roms separate...but I probably should add a better check aswell.

Minwah,
Any idea of when/if the movie screensaver option will be operational? As I understand, it was eliminated with 0.954 because of loading problems. Any chance it will be added soon? It sounded like a very cool feature.

It was quite cool, but I hadn't tested it under Win98 (perhaps I should have!). I have left most of the code there, I just need to find a movie control compatible with both '98 and 2k/XP.
It's not high on my priorities, but then neither was multiple layout support!

alright, i have two computers with the same files on it...one is my main pc that i use...which is right now also used as a backup mamewah (trial and error) type of pc. anyway, i installed the new version of mamewah, and did what you said about keeping the .lst files and deleting allt he .cfg files. but now i dont have my custom list even though i put the files back in the FILES folder. ive configured all the rom executable and path and all that, so what do i do now? the .lst files are in the folder, but my list isnt showing up! help!

Do I take it the main list shows up OK? I'm guessing so.
Have you tried selecting the custom list via the menu? Perhaps the new 'Select Custom Lists to Cycle' option for the lists in question need to be set to 'True' (oops, just noticed that should be Yes/No). By default, all will be set to false. This means that the Coin 1 key will not cycle to those lists.
BTW the above setting is usually set to 'True' when generating a custom list. Since the original CFG files are missing, it doesn't know this has happened.
Hope that works...

set it to true...nothing changed. yes i do have a main list showing. no offense, but i think i may hold off for a while till you release like...a FINAL copy of mamewah. its not that your betas arent good...but it took me forever to get the 952b version right, and i dont want to go install another one even though it fixes some things.

OK, I checked and you're right. What you need to do, is open MAMEWAH once, then close it and THEN paste the LST files into the FILES folder. FWIW I didn't neccessarily indend the .LST files to be usable between versions, it's just lucky that I haven't had to change the format yet. I won't really be adding anything to make this easier, but I've made a note to add a mention to the FAQ and eventually the readme.
I expect it only took you forever to set it up before, as there is no up-to-date readme. But yes, this should be addressed soon hopefully :)
