Title: Cpanel layout repository
Post by: Alpha17X on December 07, 2009, 02:56:39 pm
Hi guys,  I just finished making a cabinet, got a pretty standardized control pane, running MAME(tm) the usual.

I'm looking to see if theres any repository site that has an image list of how the various cpanels for games were arranged so I can get the controls configured to match in MAME.

For example  if MK3  was  Run, High Punch, High Kick on the top row, and Block, Low Punch, Low Kick on the bottom row. I wany my controls to represent that.  However extra buttons throw the defaults off and it doesn't match up sometimes.

Really just looking for a site that has diagrams of the cpanel layouts for original games.  Anyone aware of such a thing? Google just shows people's own custom cpanels, which while cool, is not what I seek.

Thanks friends.

Alpha17X:

Have you checked out the Killer List of Video Games website:  http://www.klov.com/ (http://www.klov.com/)

This site may have what you are looking for on control panel layouts.  (It was a good start for me.)

I can' believe I had forgotten about Klov.  I checked it.  IT helps a bit, some pictures are very low res and hard to make out, but it definitely helps.  If anyone is aware of a higher resolution source for cpanel images, please let us know here.

In the meantime,

Thanks John.

Why don't you check out this site:

http://www.kowal.itcom.pl/ArcadeParts_pliki/asART.htm (http://www.kowal.itcom.pl/ArcadeParts_pliki/asART.htm)

I only found out about it a few days ago and wish I had it before I started both my projects.  Oh well, saved most of the templates I liked.

If there was a reputation system here I would have just + repped you.  That is an excellent resource.

Well if it is just layout you are after you can use mine and print them off.  Just make sure you print "as is" and don't have any options like "fit to page" or whatever and everything should be lined up perfectly.  I used my friend's SFII and MKII (bootleg) dynamo control panel for reference when I was made these.

They can be seen here in my showcase cabinet build

Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II feels and plays just how I remember back when I was a kid in the arcades.

[Slagcoin (http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/layout.html)] has lots of layouts too.

mwong168:  Thanks for the excellent link!  Unfortunately, I found a lot of the links are now dead.  Still a good reference for layouts and artwork.

Alpha17X:  I'll keep searching for sites that may have "higher resolution" CP pics, and post the links here for all of us to use.

Yes but majority of them relate to SFII or NeoGeo games.  I couldn't find a MK layout so I just had to make one by trial and error using a real panel for reference.

Weird, I actually just found this site a few days ago and quickly went through the ones I liked or wanted and out of 10 I would say I got 7-8 of them and the others were just broken links.  If you are looking for one in particular let me know and I'll see if I was able to grab it and send it to ya.

It doesn't seem to have an English version. You can use Google translation - far from perfect, but it allows to understand the main points: http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=pt-BR&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kowal.itcom.pl%2FArcadeParts.htm&sl=pl&tl=en (http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=pt-BR&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kowal.itcom.pl%2FArcadeParts.htm&sl=pl&tl=en)

Found another resource for arcade game control panel layouts!

Mr. Do's Arcade website, at http://mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_artwork_frontend.html (http://mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_artwork_frontend.html)

Site contains control panel, marquee, and cabinet graphics ready to use with a MAME Front end.

Enjoy! :applaud:
