Just wondering if there any secrets for getting mame games to show up in MaLa? I've tried following all the 'how to setup's etc. but mame games don't appear. I've added several emulators, and all their games show up and work wonderfully.
Here's my options thing if that helps:

I can get all the games to show up in mameppkgui.exe though.

Did you refresh the main game list. What options are checked for roms (options button beside rom path)? Does the mame.xml file exist?

Many times.

I had the first box ticked, but I've tried several variations and yet still no show.
Does the mame.xml file exist?
Yes

well, you could generate a list externally, using the gamelist tool, or romlister.

Since mine always has trouble making the mame.xml thing, what's the .xml file meant to look like?
Mine is just blank, maybe I'll just do it manually.
What's funny is that I can get MAME working when I add it as an emulator.
-
yeah, that's probably the problem.
the .xml file should be about 35mb of text!
try deleting the xml file and have mala generate it again.
Or you can generate it yourself by opening up a command prompt in your MAME folder and typing:
mame -listxml >mame.xml

What type of mame is mameppkgui that you are running for your executable? Its probably not creating the mame.xml for you. I'm with NOP, use mame.exe even if it's just to create mame.xml.

Thanks for you help! Yeah all I had to do was get the "normal" mame, and set up Mala with that then changed the .exe path back to the Mame that I want to use.
