I just uploaded my first skin in the new layout style for MAMEWAH 0953b.
The only problem I have is that I can't get the emulator specific logo to work. I tried exactly as described in the layout.txt readme, but no luck.
Any thoughts?
I read: emu?-logo.???
to be: [MAMEWAH-PATH]\LAYOUTS\mame-logo.jpg or znes-logo.jpg etc...
Correct?
Skin available HERE (http://www.caraudioresources.net/arcade/fe.php) in 800x600 or 1024x768
It's GndPrx3 labled as new layout style.
-
You need to specify numbers, ie if MAME is the first emulator you set up then it is probably 'EMU1'. Go into the 'Select Emulator' menu to see what I mean.
See the attached for how I set up a few with your layout - pretty cool btw..
-
ahhh, now I see :) I just wasn't reading the readme properly.
I was used to the old way where you had to rename it to the emuname-logo.???
cool deal and thx ;)
Edit: Another new skin available in 800x600 currently...same link as above.

Cool! The last nintedo skin is the simplest and the best! ;D
-
Syxx,
Can you post the above skins someplace for download? Perhaps at Stuzza's site? The super nintendo skin is awesome!!(Second one perhaps the best). I also like the updated MAME skin with Super Neo control panel.
Thanks.
-
sure i'll get it all setup tonite for download hopefully.
and sorry again for posting in the wrong place, which topic is the official "new skin" topic?
-

Here is what I've been playing around with using the new skin per emulator idea. I thought it would be interesting to have a nintendo "skin set" where each emulators screen was the same but with different colours. And yes the Gameboy one is meant to be Black and White!! Anyway, this is what I came up with. I'll make it available soon if anyone is interested.

Stuzza,
Those are really cool! Can't wait till you post them for DL. Are you going to do the same idea with the other EMUs? Mame, Zinc, Gnes...?
-
Very nice work Stuzza. Please make them available for download off your website soon! Also, it would be nice to have Syxx's skins available off of the same site. I tried to download from the link Syxx provided but it didnt work--that was a couple hours ago.
It would be great to have high-quality skins for each of the other emulator systems--one for each of the tops and logos systems that you have available at your site. Something to work towards--would truly be awesome to have for each system.
-
Stuzza or anyone,
I have a quick dumb question. Does Mamewah allow you to use different backgrounds for each emulator?
So, when you switch emulators, you switch the layout/backgroud?
Thanks,
JD

As of the latest version (0953b) he's built in emulator specific skin ability.
Check the layout/layout.txt file, tells you how to set it up for each emulator.
-
Stuzza those are simply amazing you must post those for download! Wanna know like Unkis17 if you plan on doing other emus. Great work!

The NintendoSkinSet is now available for download. (~3mb) - Follow the new link at the top of the skin site for the 0.953-> skins. A big thanks to TalkingOctopus for hosting my GBA snaps aswell, so I could make room for these new skins!
I'll probably do a similar colour changing Sega set with Gamegear, Master System, Genesis, 32X and CD. Sorry, but I have no plans to do any of the other consoles at this stage.
-
Stuzza,
Thanks for the Nintendo set. I'm thoroughly impressed with your work. They look simply amazing on my cab. My only problem now is consistency. Your Nintendo skins make my Mame and Atari layouts look sad! So, here's my public plea to you to consider creating an Atari 2600 / 5200 / 7800 set. And possibly a matching Mame skin.
Thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Thanks.

the Sega Set is now done and available for download. I decided on Shades of Blue for the background of these. (for no particular reason other than I thought it looked good)
P-Funk: I could possibly do a similar atari set, but I have been using Character art for the backgrounds and I don't know of any good Character art sites for Atari? In fact I really don't know the main Popular game characters from atari! If you can point me in the direction of some graphics I'll give it a go.
There are also some new Screenshots available at the site for Genesis, 32X and TurboGrafix, provided by Syxx for those that were interested in getting these.

great idea...i like these...if you don't mind i can convert these to emulaxian's skin format?
and yeah a classic console set would be great to not only atari but vectrex (maybe spike as character) colecovision (maybe the cabbage patch kid sprite from the game most recognizalbe coleco :-[) intellivision (some bitmap character sprite from an intellivision sports game)

Sure, feel free to do whatever you want with the skins. I'll try and hunt for some classic console pics and see what I can come up with, but no promises ;D
You may want to remove my picture link from your quote above. I think such a large picture should really only be displayed once in this topic!

Thnaks! Also done the conversion...i might for my own purposes change the backdrops to support transparencys...so the screenshot and list etc appear behind their boxes.

I'd love to see some screenshots of the final conversion when your'e done. Be sure to post some pics :) If you ever need any modified versions of the files (eg. different colours or things moved), I can provide these as well.

Stuzza,
I'll start looking around for some good Atari character sites. Right off the bat, I'd start with:
http://www.atariage.com
It's probably one of the better Atari sites. They have lots of screenshots and cartridge scans. Starting with Adventure. The ultimate Atari 2600 game!
-
Atari 2600 skin in the same style as the others is now done and available! Resolution 1024x768.

Stuzza,
You Da Man!
Thanks, looks great. Exactly what I was hoping for.
I notice you have some 2600 screenshots. Have you found a site that has all of them named in goodtools format in a single zip file? AtariAge has a lot of them, but you have to download them individually.

No sorry, the Atari snaps I have are from the AtariAge site + others that were part of an atari emulator program that was discussed in a post in the forums here where someone else was requesting atari snaps (do a search for atari?).
I ran Howards renamer over the set and it picked up 117 of the snaps, which is a good start. This is all I have so far.
-
hey stuzza, im still working on those other snaps for sega systems.
just wondered is there anyway you could do a turbo graphx skin? its
the only one i havent got a decent skin for =/ anyways i'll let you know
when i get some more progress on those skins.
later!
