Can anyone help me figure out how those plates go that seperate the game boards?
Also need help figuring out why there is no inputs. it powers up fine and i can get into the diagnostic screen and check user inputs and they all work except for the gas pedal and steering wheel but when i try to put a quarter in it doesnt register the quarter. please help.

I've never worked on a Spy Hunter, but if you post a couple pictures I could give an educated guess.

Uhhh, Peale works in the industry so if your choices are no help or help from an expert, I'd suggest taking him up on the offer. Granted he may not have worked on that particular cabinet, but his expertise and ability to troubleshoot will be a great resource.
Plus, if you post pictures like he asked, you may find that someone else sees something in the pictures and can help. It can't hurt to do what he asked. :banghead:

The boards themselves. I'm not sure what you mean by sheets that go between them. I'm guessing your board assembly is in an EM cage like many games of the era.
Your coins not working can be because of several reasons - bad switch, bad wiring, bad inputs on the mainboard - Check the switch first by taking a piece of wire and jumper the leads on the switch itself. If it suddenly credits you have your answer. If not, carefully examine the wire leading back to the PCB.

The boards are not in a cage but are sandwiched with pieces of flat metal between them. There is 3 boards with 3 spacer plates. I'm pretty sure pics will not help. The spacers have little risers on them and screws hold them together. As for the coin problem. The game registers the coin drops in diagnostics. But not in game play which leads me to the I/o board. I was thinking if someone had a similar problem they could confim it so I could get another board.

If it reads in self test but not in game...that's a good one, all right. ???
How are the boards assembled right now, or do you have them lying somewhere disassembled?

There are assembled as far as the ribbon cable goes but they aren't on those plates. The only thing that doesn't read is the gas pedal and steering wheel. I've checked the pots and they seem to be fine. I think it has to do with that I/O board. I'll just get another one.

Before you plunk down cash, ask over in the newsgroups (RGVAC) or on the KLOV repair board. Maybe you don't need an entire board, only a part.
