I wonder if the "monitor hole" isn't a little bit high!? The excess or lack of space can be a pain in the ... when building a cab, if it has incorret measurements... ;)

you opinion is spot on. still working on the overall height of the cab/cp, etc.

hopefully tonight i can tighten that up and get the CP layout done right.

If you plan on using a TV then you may want to go out and decide which TV you plan on using/buying before you build. That way you have a perfect fit. After all, how often do you plan on switching out tv's for this thing? I would imagine not at all.

Plus being a bit tall doesn't hurt. You can always raise/lower the shelf and the best TV's have the speakers mounted below the screen rather than on the sides to ofer a larger maximum screen. This results in a taller TV, anyways.

Is it going to be a "sit at" machine? The scale seems to be a little wonky with that big monitor hole. It's hard to determine.

That new one may actually be a bit shorter than you might want. It all depends on the monitor you drop in it. Most arcade machines had a square opening for the monitor so it could handle either a vertical or horizontal screen by rotating it in the square.

However, most TV's are not square so if you're building this thing from scratch you have the advantage of making it perfectly fit any TV you decide to use in it. In that situation I would consider choosing your TV before deciding on final dimensions. Different TV's are wider, taller, etc.

Of course, if you use an arcade monitor, then none of this matters and a square will work just fine.

actually its going to be a 19" VGA moniter with the base taken off.  The overall measurements take that into effect and I plan on using are board between the moniter and bezel to hide the casing (which will be painted flat black).

Make the monitor hole measures to a wells gardner 27''!

Belive me, that monitor means mass destruction and you can allways want to buy one! Make allways a little more space to change when you want!  ;D
