Title: My Red 4p cab Build - Part 2
Post by: Lo_Wire on November 30, 2009, 02:29:47 am
Hi Ive been playing mame and planning a build way back in the days when mame.net was around, Ive had a few arcade machines but amount of space in our small house and how much time a spent on a single game meant I had to part ways with them, except for one which got turned in to this...

Part - 1

It was a typical NZ cabinet with that boring 80's stereo cabinet wood grain and black colour scheme (seriously they are all like that here), I really wanted
something that looked like the awesome bright coloured ones you Americans where lucky enough to get.

Control panel pops off, I have a two player in the works as 4p is a lot of fun its to tight for regular 2p use.
Any ideas on side art? I love the capcom 90's era style.

More updates to come, WILL be finished by Christmas.

Any sugestions on any changes I should make?

Very nice work. From a fellow Capcom lover, I want to see something incredible on those sides haha. I don't know how well you know your digital design but I would go for full side art, although it can be expensive.

I see you routed slots for some molding, were you thinking black? That would look boss. Does that fan get annoying at all? My eyes tend to be very dry and I think that combo'd with a bright monitor would kill me.

To create a separate panel for 2 players =  :applaud:  I mean, how may four player games are there anyway? The color choice is very nice as well.

22" I think, black T-moulding is on the floor in the pic  ;D .
Full side art sounds awesome, I think that will be the plan.

Oh, and the fan is just propping up the monitor, it goes in the hole above it, which wil be covered by the bezel.

Thanks for the complements guys, really appreciated!

Part - 2

I would of finished it for christmas but my computer didnt recognise the ipac in Ps/2 mode, so Andy helped me out by sending me a USB cable which worked straight away, so big thanks to him.
Still got a few things to do like tidy up T-moulding front barrel lock, and looking at a LED wiz thingy, dont know much about them but have seen what they can do.

Will have to use contact paper round the sides as I didnt seal the MDF very well prior to painting.

Found that cheap PC fan grill covers work great covering the speakers.

Ipac4 and a whole lot of wiring, yet to wire up start lights.

Sides plain jane at the moment.

Lets see whats inside....

Not much! down bellow we have a PC setup consisting of an amp and sub running car speakers up top,
which sounds good for games but when it comes to jukebox software it will have to be upgraded.
oh and a computer weirdly enough.

Lcd bracket.

All in all its a lot of fun to play, and I think putting player 3&4 joysticks on an angle was a real stupid idea, games like bomberman are near imossible to play!
We have had one four player match of that and Dungeons and Dragons which was a blast,
so plenty of organised Mame nights ahead I feel!

Part 3 - SIDE ART! and bezel marquee etc...
