Version 2 coming soon.
-
Why is the acrylic on the arc only in the complete version?
Also I know I am being lazy and I could look it up on your original thread, but you should put the screen size in it's made for.
Also if you have made any in other colors for anyone could you post them. Although I don't think any of them will look as good as the black.

Not sure what you mean, the Level 2's and Level 3's come with the acrylic face already attached.
EDIT: Now I understand - you mean the top and sides? That is laminate. The Level 3 kits come completely assembled and finished, including the laminate.

Thanks, that is a good idea, I will add that to the original post. The ELO 1545 is a 15" touch screen monitor.

I just sold one with a blue acrylic face, it should look great! I plan on posting finished examples when they are done.
-
I have an ELO I want to use for a juke project. I believe it is a 15 but is not marked as such on the tag. Can you tell me if it is a match to yours? The mounting holes are roughly 14 3/4 x 11 1/8.

Here's an idea for some color schemes.
Keep in mind that since there's an almost infinite choice of laminate colors and patterns, there aren't as many options for t-molding and acrylic colors. Be careful when trying to color-match. Prices can also vary with color choice, especially with laminate.
-
Here's a more stylish approach where only the face color changes and the rest is standard.

:applaud: I like the blue one and the yellow one!

Any idea if the laminate and or acrylic is available in anything like a respectable silver? IE glossy, not gray.

Acrylic mirror.

You can get laminate in just about any finish you can imagine. You could also use mirrored Plexiglas on the front. The only problem with going with a custom one-off color is the cost. The distributor I use only sell them in full sheets.
-
Hmm, is there a flexible version of that for the top arch?
8x4 ft sheets?
-
Yeah, it is all flexible enough for the bend. I think the smallest sizes I can get are 4'x6' and 3' x 8'
The brushed aluminum sample I brought home was $5 a square foot.
-
Looks Great!!!!
-
Hmm brushed, that sounds like a great idea. What are the slandered color substitutions going to be?
Also in your opinion how does that brushed sample look and how do you feel it would look on the juke?
-
Nice to see you up and running with these buddy. I wish you the best of luck with it all :applaud:

Thank you Franco!
Attached are some exploded views of the kits. It gives a good idea of what the kits are all about and how they go together. I will post more as system01 gets them finished. Thanks again Dave!
-
I agree with Franco. This is the perfect design for a modern jukebox system - a local pub has a commercial design similar to yours, but I bet they paid a hell of a lot more for it. You've inspired me to build my own jukebox project that uses a similar face shape but is slimmer and simpler in construction for wall-mounting as I need it.
Just checked the exchange rate and I must say these kits and cabinets are fantastic value given the custom hacking and acrylic work that goes into them, so I echo Franco's words and say good luck with this. I'm sure everyone agrees your first jukebox was possibly the best jukebox project yet seen on these boards so I'm sure demand will be great.

Thank you kindly sir, I appreciate that very much. Best of luck to you and your business as well. I have been following your juke project and look forward to seeing how it turns out.

For anyone considering a purchase and may not be familiar with Mountain, let me say that he is a top notch individual. I have had the pleasure of hanging out with him on many occasions and I have full faith in anything he decides to do. If you hire him for anything, you can be confident that he will do what he says and make any wrongs right. He built his cnc machine from scratch and everything I've ever seen him make was over the top professional. Mike is another reason we have such a great community here.

...Adds this to his wishlist of things to save up for to add to his man-cave someday...

Hoping to get mine soon. Can't wait ;D ;D

What are the internal measurements? I would like to plan how the parts I have might fit.

The bracket you see below is included in the LV2s and LV3s. It is designed to accept a Mini-ITX motherboard on the backside and the hard drive on the front side. A larger motherboard could be made to fit by making an adapter plate.
The basic usable internal dimensions on an SLV kit are 15" wide, 8" deep, and 12" tall. The RLV kits are 15" wide, 8" deep, and 10" tall.

Here are some more parts that system01 has modeled for me. These are linked to the product descriptions in the first post.

Anyone had any experience with this vendor? I haven't seen an update in awhile. ;)

Mine is shipping soon. I can't wait to see it. Mike has been great keeping me updating on his progress.

All open orders will ship no later than Tuesday, including yours Jim.
Here is a sneak peak for Jim, he decided to go with blue acrylic. I am very excited to see what it looks like when the protective cover is peeled away. The chrome and blue acrylic should really pop.

Here are some shots of a completed Jukebox I built for a friends bar using an RLV3 kit. We delivered it this past weekend and he was very pleased with the look and feel of it. I installed Etouch on this one and really like the interface. Very easy and fun to use.

Tips and tricks on assembly:
Mountain sent it shipped with ribs in place. For extra strength I removed them and glued them in position as well. It may be overkill but no harm in doing so.
The instructions suggest rolling the curved top in place. This is not necessary. The top is solid and easy to bend in position.
You WILL need to countersink the screw holes in the curved top, and I suggest slightly countersinking all the predrilled holes in the side and bottom, a bit more than the countersink they are shipped with.
Make sure to flush the side pieces to the bottom on the front and back. After bolting the top in place there will be 1/8th" gap on either side above the side panels. This is normal. Fill and sand similar to how I am doing in this picture.
The included drywall screws may not split the mdf like a regular wood screw, but they will extend into the case. Either find 3/4" or 1/2" fully threaded flat head wood screws (or really short drywall screws?), or break out the cut-off wheel and nip them. - Use a reinforced cut off wheel, not the standard one you see shattered in this picture.
The curved top is extremely tough. The instructions recommended running beads of glue to add to the sturdiness once it is in place. I may still do this but it is built quite well without it.
Also when the touch screen is mounted there is a 1/16" gap between the glass and the acrylic. This is for the proper function of the touch screen. To mostly fill the gap I am adding dark gray foam tape ( most likely with the edge blackened with sharpie ) to make it look tighter.

This looks really nice, and man, am I tempted. Have you considered making one that uses an iPad as the touchscreen and PC combined?
-
Ummm, so you could have an astronomically overpriced juke with very limited expandability or interfaces?

Yeah, probably wouldnt make much sense to use an iPad.
Hey stub, do you have any completed pictures??
-

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of the iCade from Thinkgeek ( http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/iCade.shtml (http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/iCade.shtml)). I know that is a fake product, but how much does a touchscreen, a mini ITX board, and a hard drive cost? Then, instead of a Dell sound bar, you substitute an iPad speaker system or anything else with a dock connector. Then, if the iPad was removable, you could use the iPad as a tablet when you're not using it as a jukebox.
Of course, you could use any tablet, but the iPad probably would already sync with your iTunes, and you could always jailbreak it for more options. Plus, it's probably the most available tablet form factor to plan around.
No big deal, just was curious if it ever crossed your mind. This is a nice jukebox! :)

You will need to add the computer, marque artwork, power supply, and wire it all up.

Yes that makes more sence ...
Do you have a complete build option ?
Thanks Jason
-
Ill be completing the build and posting the rest of the pics soon. I was directed to finish redoing the living room, then before I got back to the juke I managed to break my collarbone.
Starting to get rolling again.

Send you a really long pm ...

Is this still an active thread? If not I'd like to desticky it.

Mine works great, hope you are still selling them.
-
Yep, they are still for sale.

Hey there Mountian, I have loved following your projects. I would be interested in a basic kit. Any idea on how much shipping to Japan would be? I know that it isn't going to be economical but I would love to have one here. Also 15inch is a little small for my tastes. Do you have or can you do a 17incher? Let me know and again wonderful work as always.

Mountain Goodnight, I want to build a Wurlitzer Jukebox Model 1015 and I have sent to you. Because I would leave all levels to make a CNC that I have built.
