Hi, not sure this really belongs in the monitor forum, but that where my problem lies.
I have a Hantarex mtc 9110 25" monitor (works perfect in jamma config) hooked up to my pc with a J-Pac. I cannot get my windows desktop (set to 640x480), to show up correctly, thus mala will not show up correctly either. I get about 6 images of the desktop and diagonal lines across it, so I can barely see enough to navigate in windows, or mala. Selecting certain games like ms. pacman, street fighter, and the resolution changes and everything looks good, but as soon as it switches back to mala the screen goes crazy again.
Any ideas for me to try?
Thanks

No one here has had any trouble getting an arcade monitor working properly with a PC???
I guess I can trash the j-pac and play mortal kombat 3 ;D.

Actually it's a quite common problem and has been discussed many, many times here.
Your problem is pretty clear in your description of the problem...... wrong resolution.
Hence why the games will come up fine, but the desktop and such won't.
You need to get your pc to boot the desktop and Mala at a resolution and frequency that that monitor is capable of. Try something like 640x240 at 15khz for your desktop and Mala.
And you may also have to actually to do some physical adjustments of the Horizontal Freq on the monitor itself.

my problem is I can't see the screen enough to change the resolution in windows. When setting it up with the pc monitor I get an out of range message and it reverts back to 640x480. I'll try to set mala to go into 640x288 when it boots up.
thanks for the info, I knew it was a resolution issue, just dont know how to fix it.

I finally figured out what was going on. I had loaded the soft-15 resolutions for 15, 25, and 31, so the 25 & 31 overwrote the 15 resolutions, so I was getting non-interlaced 640x480 :banghead:. Uninstalled soft-15, reinstalled only the 15khz resolutions, and now i get 640x480 interlaced!
Now I just need to run avres and i'll be set.
thanks for pointing me i the right direction guys.

Sorry I couldn't have been more specific as I don't ever really really mess with that side of things. (PC, MAME, resolution tools, etc)
All I could tell is it was a definite resolution problem.
Glad you figured it out this far.
