Does anyone know how to switch a Gauntlet arcade to "Freeplay"? ....Its a hassle of opening the coin door.... :P

Does Gauntlet have a Freeplay mode ? Looking at the manual, I don't see one, although you can change the multipliers and health per credit so that you don't need to open as often.

Just wire up a button to the coin mechanism, I put all of my coin buttons underneath the control panel, so they are invisible but in a very convienent location.

Yes, Gauntlet does have freeplay, but you have to go into test mode (via F2 in MAME) and set it under the "Bonus Adder" option. It then gives you 2000 health when you start a game and I don't think there's any way to add to it. You can see the Freeplay on the score side of the screen on this screenshot.

Always best to refer to the manual for these types of questions. According to the manual, looks like you can set it to freeplay in the coins section of the self test

Yes. My Gauntlet is set to freeplay to keep the kids from adding 4 kajillion health. Its right in the menus.
