Title: More random Questions
Post by: crashdmj on July 19, 2003, 02:45:55 pm
Ok so I have yet to get my trackball however I am clueless as to whether or not the trackball needs to be included in my daisy chaining ground loops, it uses a USB hack from Oscar, so is it automatically grounded through the USB connection?

Ok with the USB hack i get two mouse buttons which will become the trackball buttons, now do they need to be included in the Ipac encoder or do they just remain mouse buttons (anyone get what I am saying)? Cause I am running out of IPAC inputs.

Lastly how does Mame know to use the trackball for trackball games, do I have to do anything special.

Well whether you can hook up mouse buttons to the thing depends on which of the OSCAR usb adapters you bought. Ther's one with and one without buttons support. The price difference is a couple bucks.

As for enabling a game for use with a mouse, if it has mouse support just add the "-mouse" switch when you run the game to turn it on. Also, f you include this in your mame.ini file as mouse turned on then you will always have it available automatically for mouse games.

Well I am sure I did buy the additional usb hack with the mouse buttons, but they dont need to be inputed in the Ipac right? So I save on 2 buttons cause they are inputed throught the usb not ipac.
Derek

Edit* I actually save on three: trackball + 2 mouse buttons right?

quick question... are you trying to test the mouse buttons in mame when the game is paused?

But you shouldn't hook the buttons to anything other then the mouse hack.

Actually I am just in the process of building the CP and I am dangerously close to using all the Ipac 56 input buttons.....well I actually used more than them all
However if the TB and mouse buttons arent needed to be hooked up the the IPac... I just made it.
Thanks

Neither the Trackball nor the mouse buttons go through the Ipac at all; just hook them to the oscar mouse.  I am not sure what you think you "save" by not hooking the TB, though; what were you thinking of hooking it up as?

What questions are you not sure of the answer?  I think they were answered (but some might not be clear).

If you are using the mouse hack, then NONE of the wires for your trackball, OR your mouse buttons will need to be hooked up to your IPAC.  Just like you don't hook up your mouse to your keyboard, they are different pieces of hardware going through different ports on the computer.

close to 56 inputs!?!?
You've gotta post pics...
