Ok turned out the monitor was bad so after hooking the game to a good monitor I see the following. There are basically 4, very distorted screens displayed at once.
Insert Coin screen:

Here's a game play shot:

The game also plays super fast. See video here:Messed up Ms. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFbfKmDbkTo#)
There are no hardware hacks on this board that I can see.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Alf

Can you post a pic of the main board?

Here's the main board.

HA! Look at this BS! Twobits converter board. WHAT THE F..... I can't even find anything on the ABC board, just the Super ABC board... Oh BROTHER I GOT HOSED!

-
I don't think you got hosed.
You might have the problem you cited, or you might have "horizontal collapse" on the monitor...
Have you considered getting another monitor?

Yeah, it just stinks that the seller claimed the monitor was working perfectly. :(

Try unhooking the two bits board and see if pacman will play normally.
Not exactly a BAD thing that you have that setup. A PM board is more valuable in my opinion than a Mrs Pac. Not what you wanted, but shouldn't be tough to sell and change boards, making a little $$ in the process. Or try and get the converter board working, if that's the problem.

Will that work? There are still "ms. pac" roms on the main board?
-
Looks like that Two-Bits board made the row 6 roms unnecessary as they are missing. If you remove that daughter board, the main board will not function as a regular Pac Man...
-
Yeah, I saw that too. Chances are the original owner/vendor re-used the ROMS in his own collection.
Time to go ROM hunting...
-
Yes you guys are right! The roms are on their way from Steph at Hobbyroms! Hopefully that takes care of that.
On a really positiver note the seller of the monitor actually gave me my money back in a paypal last night! HOLY COW! ??? There are still good people on this earth!
Now I'm on the hunt again for a "functioning" monitor. I'm shooting fro a WG or Electrohome at this point. Not more dreaded, super short run, "hell" monitors. HAHA!
I'll let you know what happens when the roms get here.
Thanks!
-
Didn't need the roms after all. See First post in this thread for the new issues.

It's always a good idea to keep the thread in perspective and add to the end.
You didn't say what monitor you put in there.
It looks like you have to adjust the sync - both horizontal and vertical. It's weird, it almost looks like you're outputting VGA on an arcade monitor.
-
yeah man, keep it linear...
What kind of monitor?
As for playing fast, look at the ABC board. It shows right on it that the board has 4 settings.
-
Sorry about removing stuff from the original post. It really doesn't apply to my problem though. Half of what I was seeing was due to the bad monitor. The monitor I was using was the horrible Zenith. It's long gone now, I have a G07 on the way for this cab. The test pictures were of a known working WGk7197. I figured it'd be better not to confuse readers with unessential info.

It's more confusing to read everyone elses replies to something that is no longer there. ;)

If I didn't know any better I would think that was a VGA monitor there instead of a CGA......

That's what I thought at first too, but knowing better...
There's a few examples on Mowerman's Pac Page regarding multiple Pac images. The OP has a thread on KLOV Forums about this too, and they're pointing him that way.

I have actually purchased 3 - 74LS161 chips and 1- 74LS74 chip to replace 3R, 2S, 3N, 2R from Mikes Arcade. Lets hop that helps!!! (Fingers crossed)

If your motherboard is bricked i'll soon be selling a mobo + monitor that i'll be ripping out. I'm doing an xbox conversion http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=98401.msg1039457#msg1039457 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=98401.msg1039457#msg1039457) here

LOoooong overdue update. So i replaced all of the chips (3R 3S 2R 2S ) same issue. I'm totally bumming now. :( The machine is completely restored and mint, I have an immaculate G07 in there from chris25810 over at the klov forum, to replace that stupid Zenith and it's just sitting there... I just want to play!!!!

Time for a new board.

Time for a new board.
Or let a pro fix it. Ask ChannelManiac.
-
Well, it has that ABC daughter board. Usually people only fix genuine stuff... I fell like getting the regular roms and just trying it as a Pac board to rule out the ABC part... What a pain...
Ok who has a working Ms. Pac to sell?
-
Ms. Pacman still broken... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntRepT2TX84#ws)
-
Yep, the horizontal width coil is horked. And now the situation is worse, since you tried to adjust it and it fell apart in your hand. Replacing that should stitch your image back together. Time to see Bob Roberts.
As far as the speed, that's a chip issue. Somewhere there's a chip that is causing this. Is that ABC daughter board still connected?
It almost seems like the board is outputting 2 signals, and operating at twice the speed. Is this correct? Maybe there's something related there.

I was doing some reading today, and stumbled accross this website:
http://www.twobits.com/ABC/#KIT_CONTENTS (http://www.twobits.com/ABC/#KIT_CONTENTS)
It looks like that two bits board you have is a diagnostics board used in testing the pac board!
Did you ever get the board working?
