Title: Reset Switch
Post by: bigal6450 on November 09, 2009, 05:14:24 pm
I have a old galaga cockatail table which was convereted to a 48 and one multicade.  Is there a way to instal a reset button?  I have already installed an on off switch but would like a reset button.

Is the On/Off switch you installed a latching two position switch?  If it is a reset button would be as simple as a NC (Normally Closed) momentary switch placed in line with your power switch.

To reset what exactly? The multi-boards have a built in reset already. I'm not sure exactly what buttons to push. It's the 48-in-1, yes?

If i am playing a game and I want to go back to the main menu,  I installed a simple toggle switch to control the on/off

So you are having to wait for the whole boot up sequence again ?

You need to read what people write. On/Off is probably the worst solution. Like I ALREADY SAID, if you are talking about one of those 48-in-1, or 60-in-1 THERE IS ALREADY A WAY TO GO BACK TO THE MENU!!!

I don't think there is a way to get back while a game is active, which is what I think he wants.

I'll confirm this soon enough. It would really surprise me if the "Test" or "Service" switches did nothing even with a game in play.

Even if that were true... how hard is it to kill off a few lives to end the game??

The reason I'm strongly reacting here is that frequent on/off could be "hard" on the electricals and could eventually lead to damage from a spike. But it's hard to tell what the guy's set up is cuz he doesn't answer questions from people trying to help him.

I am definitely +1 about the powering cycling.

I tried both Test and Service on my 48-in-1 and 60-in-1 last night to no avail.

if I get bored of a game, I either tank the remaining lives or walk over to another machine and play there until the first game is over.

No escape key in the JAMMA standard.
