Title: Tube swap for a medium resolution monitor ?
Post by: tommyinajar on November 08, 2009, 12:18:16 am
I've got a WG k7000 Medium res and the tube is shot. Can I find a similar tube from a standard resolution  monitor or maybe an old TV, or is the tube different , and it has to be a from a medium resolution.  Any other options ?

Thanks

( I know just enough about monitors just to be only semi-dangerous :) )

as long as the crt is the same size and the neck is same pinout then the only other issue is the yoke, you may need to perform a yoke swap but be warned some yokes are bonded and cannot be swapped
best way forwards is to use a inductance meter to find the horizontal and vertical inductance readings and also a multimeter to find the impedence readings of both, armed with that info makes the task a lot easier to match up a donor crt
