Title: Pacman Experts:Modifying Pacmans Gosth names, is this posible?

I have seen an option in the Mame menu (hit tab) on pacman, that says ghost alternate names, when i change this on puckman, the ghost name changes, but not in the midway rom, i was wondering if theres a way to change the ghost names to whatever i want (that would be funny) especially if i gave the names of my family members. Its there a tool i can use to change the code or some other way to do that. Thanks

yes there is a proggy to change the names/character. I think it was called TUCO?????? fotgot what it is. Anyway, when you do find it, and change the way you want it, you can run in it MAME. Even thou MAME will complain about not being the right ROM, it should still LOAD and run.

Turaco, thats the name of the proggy, not a noob friendly proggy, and cant seem to find a tutorial on how to do what im trying to do. More help will be apreciated. thanks.

Hey there, can you explain how you did this please?

just get a hex editor, then extract the roms of the pacman game you want to modify, after that open pacman.6j or puckman.6j, look for the text words and change them to watever you please, just make note that you can only change as many characters as the words have, and @ its for empty space, ill post an example tomorrow, but its very easy, even for a noob like me, you have to have a mame version that dosnt care about crs, because once you change anything the crs will change as well. good luck
