Hi Folks - First time poster, but long time lurker ;-)
So, I've got my cab up and running - this forum has been a great resource/tool. However, I have not been able to find much guidance on this forum (or others), on how to configure a Tornado spinner in MAME.
The spinner works well in Maximus Arcade UI, and Stella. However, I can't get it to work in MAME... Here has been my approach so far, that has not led to success:
- Within MAME, I enter the MAME Configuration utility (TAB).
- I select either "Input (general)", and/or "Player 1 Controls".
- I attempt to update the Dial and/or Paddle Analog assignments by hitting "Return" key. Right now, default assingments are "Mouse X".
- When I go to assign the Tornado spinner activity to the controls, nothing happens.
Any recommendations? I've seen some suggestions to modify the mame.ini file. however, I don't have one of these as I am not using the MAME32 UI.
Any help would be appreciated. Eager to play some Championship Sprint!
Thank you,
Matt

do you have multiple mouse setting on in the default settings in mame

Hi - Thx for the quick response.
I see that multiple mouse is an option on line #809 of: http://mamedev.org/source/docs/config.txt.html. (http://mamedev.org/source/docs/config.txt.html.) And, that the default is "Off". That being said, that's probably my problem. But, I don't see where to update that setting.

open mame Options tab/default game options/controllers/multiple mice should work if your using mame32

hmmmm...
What if I am not using MAME32? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Maximus Arcade (MA) and MAME32 mutually exclusive?
Or, should I be using MAME32 in conjunction with MA?

Look up MameUI, look at the 'default game options' and see what it enables, controls-wise. Also read the help file with it to understand what's happening at a file level.

Thanks, guys! Got it fixed up. It is working great!
I followed the directions on how to create the mame.ini file, then modified the mame.ini file to enable mouse control for the spinner. Boom! all set.
I appreciate the guidance. Much appreciated.
