ive just been messing about with my cocktail cab,
running advanced mame, just swapped mother boards,
all the video side of it is working perfect,no tearing
and stuff but my sound isnt working,i cant remember that well how to set up sound
in advance mame.
Im running a SB16 Isa on a MSI motherboard with built in trident 3d blade!,
I can run the creative setup for SB16 program and get sound in the test,
The motherboard also has built in soundblaster but i have that disabled
because i cant get that to work either.
Sound just isnt coming out from advance mame:-
I have the setblaser command in my autoexec.bat
i have my sound device set to auto in the advancemame.rc file
also sample rate is set to 44k .
its ages since i have messed about with sound in dos,
ive just had it working for ages, cant get it to work now through,
with this new board.any ideas?, have also tried a soundblaster pro,
no sound :(

When you run the creative setup program and get sound does the I/O Range and IRQ match in the AutoExec.bat?
-
I vaguely remember this problem, Headkaze is right, the settings in your autoexec.bat have to match those detected by the SB setup. Here's a copy and paste from my old, working autoexec.bat:
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T4
SET SOUND=C:\SBPRO
C:\SBPRO\SBP-SET /M:12 /VOC:12 /CD:12 /FM:12 /LINE:12
IRQ 5 is by far the most recognised setting and should work across multiple emulators, including MAME.

You also have to make sure you have the device_sound setting correct in the advmame.rc file.

thanks for your comments, and settings for the sb pro - im gonna try that next,
then set the jumpers on the card to make sure!
cheerZ!

if you can, test it with another dos game that has its own soundsetup.exe
if it works there, you know its down to mame config

I got it working,
just found a working driver disk from driver guide,
my card is a soundblaster 2.0 ,
im sure I could run my soundblaster 16 Isa
but it sounds quite nice , a bit warmer still
through this card,it'll do for now.
the main problem i had was my card was set at address of 240h, instead of 220h,
i never noticed.
