Anybody remember this guy?
Well he's at it again, he's trying to sell this on Ebay under the name arcade*trader*lax :
Someone better hurry and put a bid in... TNTLOL... only 1 day 11 hours left to go!!!
-
Wait... he's not finished yet, he also has this one for sale:
What a waste of a perfectly good Willis Joust CPO... darn shame...
Check out the shaft lenght on those joysticks, can you even call then joysticks??? More like joyballs...

-
He must have gotten a deal on brown paint. :dizzy:
-
Look at the button placement on the Robotron. Like a little kids writing, he ran out of room and wrapped the buttons down the side. :lol
-
What's with the Joust marquee? Is that printed on an 8.5x11 or did he trim an original down for some reason?
-
How did he get that robotron thing so DEEP? It's hilarious. Ya know, if I was building an LCD based arcade cab, I think I'd take standard dimensions but make it only half as deep so it'd take up less space in a room and to transport. The LCD would allow you easily 'remove' the back half at the design stage, and just tuck the PC near the front. Still lots of room inside for everything else. o.o
-

Considering the quality of the build, that brown on the cabinets probably isn't paint. Don't stand to close or you might smell it...
-
The bezel on the Joust is a nice touch. Is that salvaged from remodeling his parent's house with vintage "wood panel" walls? Class all the way! :afro:
-
Check out the shaft lenght on those joysticks, can you even call then joysticks??? More like joyballs...
No doubt. That was the first thing I noticed when I looked at the CP. Damn.
-

That's because he put the joust CP on top of whatever CP was there. Kind of slipped the joysticks from the first CP through. See how there's that massive overhang on the front?
-
The superimposed screenshots do it for me!
Is that original side-art on the Robotron?

I remember the picture, but not the story. What's his story again?
All I can recall is the "side art" is supposed to be actual photographs from a sports shop or something? Hence the weird acrylic protectors.
-

This guy was trying to sell this "heavily decorated" Track and Field cabinet on Ebay. There was a thread about it so I took the images from the Ebay listing and put together the Epic Fail demotivational poster.
Fast forward a few months, I am reading a KLOV thread about Willis Joust CPOs and there is a link to the Joust cabinet, so I say to myself "Hey, I recognize that Ebay name... could it be Epic Fail T&F guy?" Surely enough it was, not only did he have the Joust MAME cabinet for sale, but he also had the RoboMAME cabinet as well.
-
oh dear....

Didn't the guy have a webpage or something dedicated to the construction of that T&F? I swear I remember reading something about why it was built, how it was built, etc. Or did that all come from the aforementioned thread?

T'is sad isn't it?
-
T'is sad isn't it?
Indeed it T'is...
Crystal Meth will make people do shameful, horrible things... It destroys lives... and arcade cabinets...
-
Did Liberace own that Track & Field cab?
-
The angle of that Joust CP = carpel tunnel syndrome

Did Liberace own that Track & Field cab?
Thanks for ruining my morning. Anything else you'd like to put up to ensure I'll have nightmares?

This seller needs an intervention...
Holy Cow, would there even be such a thing for this guy?
-
And the hits keep coming! Same guy! Guess he ran out of brown and found some purple...
Bidding at $305..!? http://is.gd/4P4jq (http://is.gd/4P4jq)
-
He's gone mad with power
He must be stopped
-
Well at least his house/storage/---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- centre isn't a mess with tripping hazards and random crap.... oh... then again... it is. 'Tard.
-
I'm not a purist, so I have a different take on things than some here. But, that Mrs Pacman doesn't look all that bad to me. Sure, the bezel is a bit odd, but it fits with the rest of the machine. It's not completely hideous like those other machines. Now, I'm not buying the thing, but for $300 (which is about double what I would consider paying in my area) I'm sure someone will be happy with a finished multicade machine. Ehhh, whatever. :dunno

Yeah, me neither. And what's wrong with purple, yo??
-
Another from the same seller - with this lovely AstroTurf monitor bezel!
-
Oh... wow. That's just a new level of hideousness.
-

My god in heaven.....that is awesomely bad. He should re-mold the joy's to look like horse ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.
-
Looks like wood slats are nailed in to the cab holding the astroturf on.
And what is that- a 14" monitor? :dunno
-
Wrong colors on the Ms. Pac-Man, but it sort of looks ok, it is better than the others....
Is there a new level of being low? There has got to be something worse then an Epic Fail when it comes to that "Neck -N- Neck" Machine...

What's worse...the cabinets or the fact that he is selling them preloaded with MAME and ROMS?
http://tiny.cc/5wB24 (http://tiny.cc/5wB24)
I suppose since he put a TM next to MAME in the description, he is free of all copyright infringement? :laugh2:
-
Ok, I am not one to flame, but after seeing his eBay items I am blown away... :censored:
I honestly feel bad for the guy and I sort of wish someone was closer to him to show him the way.
-
Oh... wow. That's just a new level of hideousness.
Holy crap...when a cab is that hideous, why even bother? I mean seriously...just build a controller for your lap or a table top. I honestly think I couldn't stand in front of that without getting ill.
-
MY EYES! MY EYES!
I gotta head over to 2 girls 1 cup to get a better image in mind
-
...what happens when creativity goes wrong. :dizzy:
-
see kids this is what happens when you do coke, crack, and crystal meth all in the same night...monstrosities are created...i think i have had better shits at 9am that look better than those cabs...just sayin
-
I mean looking at it the first thing the cab screams is "This Astroturf looks friggin Baaaaad, please help me, for all that is holy...help me...stop staring and get me the hell outta this predicament...you are still staring...is that joy in your eyes?!?!? HELP ME DAMNIT...HELP ME!!!!"
It wouldn't take that much to take this cab from unholy abomination to 'average'...just rip off the astroturf bezel, green grass CP artwork and replace with solid black.
EDIT: Oh and rip off Charlie the "pastel rider" from the CP as well ;)
-
OH HOLLY HELL!!! Is that turf on the CP as well? I thought it was just a grass looking image... WHY!??!!? :hissy:
-
This thread deserves a one year anniversary bump.

This thread deserves a one year anniversary bump.
Thanks! It's new to me! :laugh2:
-
MAMESTROSITIES!!!
:o
-
:laugh2: I totally remember this clown! The scrap from my first build looked better than all of his cabinets put together, although it's very possible that his track & field cabinet can outrun mine! :laugh2:
-
Is he still putting them out?
-
OMG, what a blast from the past!!! hahahahahahah
-
i'm glad this thread was bumped, i missed it the first time around. i do remember the track and field cabinet, but none of the others...that is simply amazing
-
I betcha he made a dirt filled/covered dig dug cabinet. ;)
Maybe a Burger Time cab covered in mcdonald's wrappers?
-
Dude also make an absolutely horrendous Punch Out cab. I can' t find a picture though. I am guessing the guy is a bit "dim" in the head... and if that is the case... GOOD FOR HIM! If it's not the case... SHAME!
-
He's gone mad with power
He must be stopped
:lol
-
Let's hope he doesn't make a centipede cab.
I like his ms pacman cab though, that was alright. That'd make a kid happy.
-
What did they sell for on e-bay? And who would buy them!
And here I thought I was original by incorporating astro turf in my design.... J/k
-
There were real arcade machines in one picture. Suggests he was keeping them for himself, and making money off junk.
-
I will pay the sum of one million dollars for the Neck N Neck machine. I must have it. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen...
-
Sweet lord..these hurt my eyes.
WHO WOULD BUY THIS CRAP? :laugh2:
-
Almost as if he heard my prayers...
...the dude posted his Punch Out on CL!
HAHAHA!
Check out that DOPE-ASS marquee area!
-
I like how the t-molding just on the front just stops. ;D
Can you link to the listing? I'd like to read the description.
-
What is this I don't even
-
...know.
Argh. What's going on with that coin door? How can a coin door get so crooked? Is that even possible?!
-

He had some cool "close up" shots of this cab when he had it on ebay. For those having difficulty seeing, the marquee area is hollow with two freakin' boxing gloves shoved in there with a punchout marquee BEHIND the gloves. Yes... it's that bad.
My immediate reaction to this travesty was "HE WASTED A PUNCHOUT CONTROL PANEL ON THAT PIECE OF JUNK?!"
-
IN defense of the indefensible.... The thing I love about BYOACers is that unlike the hard core arcade restorers, BYOACers are creative, and I love this forum because of all the nifty stuff I have seen. So I think its kind of cool that he has incorporated these unorthodox elements, its too bad that he half asses everything else.... nix that, he quarter asses everything else. Its almost like he has a checklist about what should be on an an arcade, I mean all the elements are there; marquee, coin door, t-molding, etc. But he doesn't do anything well....
-
I have been reading this thread and just could not stand by quietly anymore. What a joke.
I wouldn't pay $100 for any of these cabs.
I think it is funny that he takes the time to put the original CPs in..but half-asses everything else including the artwork. What's the point? He should just slap a frankenpanel on and call it a day..
-
I would like to correct you Bootay, he does not half ass things, I am thinking about downgrading that to 1/8th assing things from 1/4 assing things.
-

You are right. His ideas are sometimes great in spirit. Just horribly executed. For example, I could see how a pair of shiny red boxing gloves hanging off the side of a real Punch-Out machine might actually look cool.
-
awwww oh * burp * .... guh....
kinda like food poisoning.....
-
this thread is so awesome....these cabinets make the stuff on crapmame look like mamey winners. i just don't understand how anyone could do this, not just once, but over and over again. my cabinets arent pretty, and can't hold a candle to alot of the cabinets on this site, but come on..this guy has to know how bad these things are. i just dont get it
-
I just realized he might just be a marketing genius. He may be taking a page from this guy's tactics, and selling proper machines as a result of the exposure:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/28/business/28borker.html?pagewanted=all (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/28/business/28borker.html?pagewanted=all)
To summarize: The guy in the linked article makes it a point to provide bad service to just enough customers that they post complaints about his website on all sorts of forums, Better business bureau, etc. He does this just up to the limit of what his credit card providers allow in terms of number of chargebacks per month. The end result: He gets page 1 Google search rankings thanks to all the complainers posting links to his site. Pure (evil) genius.
-

pile of crap + a few hours with a printer & a glue stick= $350
judging from the comments about his ebay auction, he's actually getting that much out of them.
-
Who has the link to the E-Bay auction?

It's earlier in the thread, but long dead. Comments says his ms. paman was at $305.
I only got $350 out of my original pacman with a multi-pac installed. :-\

Fascinating read. Thanks!

Ah, I see there was huge deal about these types of threads and everyone gets a little worked over this stuff. I apologize, my bad for bumping.

There's having 8 buttons per player, and then there's astroturf bezels.
He still sells on ebay (mostly small v-pins), but has dialed the kooky style way back.

Damn..... I was hoping for a star wars wookie edition covered in brown shaggy rug
