Right, as far as artwork, photoshop etc are concerned I'm a complete idiot. I'm halfway though my build and am struggling here big time.
I can draw halo's etc on it up but I'm struggling on this whole vertor/raster image/DPI thing. The image i got is 1600 x 1200 - 72 dpi! I tried using vertor magic but it comes out terrible. (Its the cosmic frostbite image knievel made famous) I've read it should be at 300 DPI to sent to mame marquees from printing.
Can I just make it 300 dpi or will it all come out pixelated ?
Should i convert it somehow ? Vertorize etc ?
I know this has been asked alot but I searched for hours and its mostly only about basic graphics and things that can be vectorised!
Thanks

If you convert it to 300dpi...you basicly going to have a 5 inch by 4 inch image... and i'm not sure what you are trying to print...( marquee, sideart, bezel?) but both ways it will probley be pixilated...I myself have never tried vector magic...I use Adobe Illustrator...throw a request here to some of the artists and/or contact Mamemarquee and see what quote that will give ya to vectorize it for ya...

my 2¢'s
It seems the largest size of the image found online is 1600 x 1200, stretching it in raster format isn't impossible, you'll need a copy that hasn't been damaged by too much jpeg compression, I've found copies of the image online that are compressed much less then others, you may get away with this... you may not...
Its a monochrome image, I found a little gaussian blur can fool the eye and soften a bit of pixel effect, under plexi and in a dim room you won't notice. I think this is a better approach then auto-vectoring. You loose a lot of nice detail doing that.
One thing you might want to try is the original artist...

I would try to email him and ask if you can purchase a high-res copy to use. It may be cheaper then you think and worth it in the time you'll save.
It really is a great image. (if not a bit over used for panels these days)

Thanks for replies! That was exactly what i was after. Its for a CPO and marquee that will be under plexi. I may just pay someone on here to do it but the only thread I found prices on seem very prohibitive. I agree it is overused, but I will be the only one with it in my house ;D.

As a base image, it is not really an option to vectorise it; too much shading going on. Push2reject's suggestions seem the only real options here.

The artist guy replied that he doesn't have a high res image anymore. I'm curious how everyone else is doing it? Are they paying to get it done, editing it like push2reject said or just leaving it pixelated ?

Post what you've got. I'll see what I can do.
