Title: Help with Game Ex jukebox mode
Post by: muchoman613 on October 22, 2009, 09:06:36 pm
Hello forum members im just wondering is there a way in GameEx jukebox mode for the user to be able to plug in a mp3 device like a ipod and have it read that device and play the music files from there instead of having to put the music files into a folder then playing it

i would be willing to pay 25 dollar via paypal  if the feature i mentioned above could be implemented if someone can please script, program, or make a plugin for it

First IPod and such Apple device I think Itunes is required, due Applice as allways is very closed. but if it does create a letter, it should been easy possible to do that, but drm proctected music cannot been played outside Itunes.

I could add that feature to MultiFE, but when I did a simular feature in Arcade Music Box, I did have some crash issues when it connected and coud not force the popup to stop, so I droppede that idea....

There might been 3th jukebox software that can do that job, but mine softtware was not designed to do that and was not intended to do (GameEX can run external PC software as well).

Damn so the best bet is to run itunes or a external app in the background while game ex is running

I have not such of these device, but I dept if Apple so closed about extract this one, even most other players should not have any issues like this. But of these devices do pop up a drive letter like memory keys, this should been very easy to add tha feature, but scanning for tags is no go, but only do a explorer like interface, since scanning tags would take to long time.

Some Jukebox software might have this feature, so I think you should checkout the jukebox section and let that software start from GameEx.

I tried to do something like this in my software, but I did not got this to work correctly (even it was not that design when I created my software, but could look in the future after I have done the music on the games I do).

It looks like Apple's iTunes has a COM API for accessing alot of it's features. I have passed on the info to Tom so we will see if he ends up implementing support for it in the near future.

why not here? Hover MultiFE was not intended to been using as a extender for Itunes, Winamp or such, but would been fun. By now I have not working this since I have worked a lots of tunse in various games recently.

Hi,

GameEx already does have itunes support, and can read from the itunes library assuming its installed.

Im not sure thats quite what your looking for though, it wont read from a portable device as such.

Cheers.
Tom.

can't you map the drive on your portable, then tell WMP to build its library from the drive?

Thanks for all the replies and thanks Tom for directly replying on here too, i was hoping to just have like the user plug in a mp3 device and then have it being read via game ex and then in jukebox mode have game ex play the music files from that device and also pictures too so you could have it like a jukebox slideshow cabinet that you could use instead of a mp3 player/stereo
