Title: FS: .187 Female Quick Disconnects
Post by: SirPeale on July 17, 2003, 01:54:57 pm
Female quick disconnects, red and blue, fully insulated.  I just found a great source of these.

100 - $6.00 shipped.
200 - $11.00 shipped.

I accept Checks, money order and PayPal.  But - no PayPal accounts that are funded with a credit card.  This includes 'debit' cards that have the Visa or MasterCard logo on them.  They still count as a credit card.  I've only got a personal account.

If you're interested, PM or email me.

Yeah, I would have asked for more, but I figured I leave some for everyone else, since they were in limited supply.

Are the blue barrel the ones that can handle thicker cables?  (red is 20 gauge, blue bigger right?)

I would LOVE 100!  (I have a hundred red ended ones right now... but would LOVE blue ones for ground wires that usually have some extra spots on it.

And how are you receiving cash?  paypal?

Good prices. Slightly cheaper than the auto parts store I get them at.

They only ever seem to have one package of them in stock. Every time I go in I buy it, and then a new one shows up the next time I am there. (I am just hording them now, since all my projects are currently out of the wiring phases).

I'm still want 100 of the blues.  I will (definately this time) get a check out on monday!

(paypal is really so much easier.  I can do paypal and justify it later to the wife... I have to get the checkbook from my wife for that... and I had family in town for two weeks.  It has made getting anything done impossible!

Let me know if I'm still down for 100

hehe, the advantage to paypal is I can pay within seconds... before I decide if I get in trouble or not for getting them...

I will get a check out on monday.  I've just been super busy and didn't get around to it.

Sorry about the wait... and thanks!

What's the difference between the red and blue ones?  Other than just color?(or is there no difference?)

As far as I know, the blue ones are 0.187" wide and the red ones are 0.25" wide.

I picked up a pack of 100 red ones yesterday at Home Depot, they're on sale for $4 per pack.

Wrong.  Blue and red denote the wire gauge that you can use.  Blue is for 16-14, and red is 22-16.

Not to be negative... but I'm surprised you guys aren't using fully insulated connectors.  To me, it's well worth the extra price to know that the wiring is that much safer, less chance of shorts, grounds, etc.

These connections aren't exactly carrying 1.21 jiggawatts...these are mostly for buttons and joysticks.   ;)

Yeah, the only other thing capable of generating 1.21 jigawatts is...a bolt of lightning.  Unfortunately, you never know where one of those is going to hit.

Well true enough.... just hope your I-Pac, etc doesn't suffer some day because of saving a few cents, that's all.

If you're wiring a control panel so the connectors are touching at all, then something is wrong.  Fully insulated are nice, but waaaay overkill for control panel stuff.

I finally got around to using mine, and they're great.  I'm curious to know the right way to use them as far as clamping down on the wire.  I've been using a candle to melt the blue plastic, then use a pair of pliers to squash the plastic & metal around the wire.  Is there ordinarily a special tool or something that people use for this, or does everybody use a candle?

Go to your local radio shack or home depot and pick up a $10 crimper. You'll love it! They make fancy ones that if you were going to do a lot of crimping it would be worth buying up but the $10 one will be a lot better, cleaner, and easier than just mashing them with pliers.

Maybe I'm way off, but I don't think your supposed to melt the ends. They are not shrink tubing, rather just a cover for the metal underneath.

My payment should have been with a savings account...

I hope I didn't accidentally send a credit card payment.

Female quick disconnects, blue barrel.

100 - $6.00 shipped.
200 - $11.00 shipped.

Check/Money/PayPal.  No PayPal accounts that are funded with a credit card.  This includes 'debit' cards that have the Visa or MasterCard logo on them.  They still count as a credit card.

I'd like 200 of them... I'll PM you about it.
