Title: Good Old Games
Post by: david656 on October 17, 2009, 11:54:14 am
I have just come across a website that is selling older games via internet download. http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/ (http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/)

I have always been a fan of stonekeep and already own it twice, but whilst in a charity shop earlier saw the 'big box' version and couldn't resist buying it for £1.99! i was quite surprised to open it and find the stonekeep CD+case, as well as another stonekeep CD+case! so i own it 4 times now!

What has thrown me is i use DOSbox to play this game, however that website states it is compatible with XP and vista out of the box for 32bit and 64bit! Seeing as it is a 16bit MS-DOS (with a basic win95 support) how is this possible.     http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/stonekeep (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/stonekeep)

interested to see if anyone has used their site etc.

I have that game and the player guide. I haven't tried to run it in a long time though. I know I used to run it with a dos box type deal. It was not easy to get running. Fun game though. I never made it all the way through. I may have to dig it out again.

The old stuff usually runs in DOSBox.  They set it all up so it'll work flawlessly on pretty much any windows machine.  I've bought 4 or 5 games from them and they all run great in XP/Vista/7 for me.

I definitely recommend GOG.
