Title: Sega Model 2 Emulator Requirements
Post by: The Monkey Man on October 15, 2009, 03:56:09 pm
Okay, so I'm constructing a MAME cabinet, and am trying to get some Model 2 games on it, like Daytona USA, Sonic the Fighters and House of the Dead.

Unfortunately, the Model 2 emulator doesn't work.

I've tried it on my main computer and it works fine, and I copied the roms and files to the arcade via a USB memory stick, but when I run it on the arcade system, it "experiences a problem and needs to close".

Not sure about the specs yet, but the graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce MX 4000. It's kinda goofy, because it loads N64 games, but no M2...

So, I'm just wondering what the requirements are to run Sega Model 2 games on your PC.

Can't find anything on their homepage about system requirements.
There's both a regular and multi-cpu version of the emulator (both in the same directory / download, so you should have both). Did you try both of them?
Did you make any changes to the .ini file? Maybe some tweaking is in order.

I've run it under both regular XP and Vista 64-bit, so the OS shouldn't be a factor.

Well I'm not sure on the requirements...
but I Video card Doesn't  even have Pixel Shader 1!

Sounds Like things didn't copy over well or something else
is the culprit!

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE...

So I'm sorry about dragging up an old thread but as it's on topic I thought it best to keep all the information possible together to help people with future searches. :)

I have these specs:

Memory (RAM):          1024 MB
CPU Info:              Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
CPU Speed:             2821.2 MHz
Sound Card:            SB Live! Wave Device
Display Adapters:      NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT | NetMeeting driver | RDPDD Chained DD

I cannot get the emulator to run, I put all the rom files in the rom folder that is named correctly etc, double click on the exe and the little window opens up, I select daytona usa, the window resizes and crashes.

Is my system good enough to run it? is it me doing something wrong or just too weak of a computer?

FIXED IT ;D

DAYTONAAAAAAAAAAA!!
 :applaud:

Basically found out that there was a problem with direct x on my system and the model 2 emulator is very VERY picky about directX.
Reinstalled direct x and BINGO.

It's slightly stutters but it's very playable on my system ;D ;D

Just posting as hopefully this information will help someone else out in the future  ;D
