Title: Golly! Ghost! No background image. (solved) Now with game play vid.

Hi everyone.
So I've been trying to get Golly! Ghost! to work for some time now....
I've found the backdrop files (.lay file and lots of .png's) Still no backdrop and no shots are registered as hits.
The whole screen blinks when i fire but still nothing. Does the missing backdrop fix the issue?

First I put the lay file in the zip of the game. --> Didn't help.
Then I put all the PNG's in there as well  --> Still no cigarr.

Could anyone help me out?

Ah so  found a way to get the gun working...
Hold 9 then press F2 to enter Service Mode. Shoot at the targets it shows using the crosshair. After you've shot the target, press 9 again to move onto the next one. Once you finished and have returned to the start again, hit F2.

But still no backdrop... Anyone?

Testing in the latest version and it's working fine with the artwork provided at Mr. Do's site:

First off, what version of MAME are you using?  Notice that artwork downloaded from the above site will only work for MAME 0.107 or later.  Further artwork help can be provided on his site:

Also, there is a set-up required for that game.  This information is in a portion of the MAME FAQ (at mamedev.org) which deals with Game Specific Setup:

Following the steps detailed should being your aim into alignment.  Be sure that you do both guns 1 and 2 (some games won't work unless all are configured properly).

Thanks Tafoid. The mame artwork faq fixed my issue.  ;D

I run MameUIFX 0.134 with nonag/hiscore.

The .lay file is placed in the game's .zip file. (roms folder)
The PNG's (still in the zip) in the Artwork folder in my mame folder. (the artwork folder is specified in the mame.ini file)

So now I'll try it for Discs of Tron.  ;D
