Title: Ms. Pac Man Cocktail Arcade

Hello,  I have taken in a Ms. Pac man cocktail version that is pretty much all original from 1980 something. I think it has had a new monitor sometime but not sure. this unit has been in my uncles bowling alley for about 20 years or so. It has gum, scratches and all kinds of damage. I would like to clean it up and have it in my home for fun.

The sound doesn't work. The speaker is disconnected. When I hook it up, it is a solid tone. I tried a different speaker with the same results.

The monitor is in ok shape.  It has a little burn in.  I heard that these can be replaced with LCD's...  What does that cost typically?

The main thing I am wondering is to know if the sound is ecomomically viable to fix. I am sure it is fixable, but what would that cost to replace the sound card?

Is there an online resource for parts?  Thanks for your help.

If it only has Ms Pac-man burn-in and works okay, that's fine. Leave it as it is.

If you feel you must replace it, please do not use an LCD. That game would look terrible on it. Buy a CGA CRT monitor.

The one this game needs is $404.56 and you'll need the $57.99 frame kit to mount it in the cabinet:

Now add the typical outrageous Happ shipping charges and you're up to $500 for the monitor!

Your sound problems could be anything from loose/tarnished socketed chips on the gameboard to a dirty edge connector to bad electrolytic capacitors.

If you really need to place in an LCD (Pac Man DOES look good on it IMO), then buy the HP LP2065. That one has good contrast, real 4:3 and 178/178 viewing angles as it is an IPS panel. They go for 300$. Much better deal than the TN paneled 5:4 Happ-Crapp. But if you go LCD, then consider maming it. If the mobo and monitor are fine, leave it as it is.
