I love the stuff over @ local arcade, I think what Zorg does for the community of collectors is awesome.
I just downloaded the art for DK, DK JR, and DK3. I have three bar tops that I plan on working on shortly.
I plan on using the DK series of artwork for these projects.
I have photoshop and illustrator but am very VERY very new to illustrator.
With the DK sideart from local arcade can I easily remove the blue that surrounds it ?
And if so do I have to do anything special to get it ready to print ?
Long and short of it a friends father can print me full color adhesive vinyl stickers that I plan on using for side art.
He has asked that I send him EPS files, and I would like the images die cut (obviously).
If I can remove the blue that surrounds the DK art that is what I plan on doing. I know with photshop I would use the magic want and presto, but again with illustrator I'm a virgin.
Also with the DK JR art, I noticed that it has a red border, then transparent, then orange. Obviously one would have issues printing a solid image sticker considering an elenment is transparent. Does anyone know where I can find the AI or EPS file of the image without the stars ? Reading online the stars were not part of the original art.
Again, I know in photoshop I can remove them, but then the orange line that outlines the image isnt solid and clean. I myself dont know how to fix that. If anyone has the image without them, with perhaps another solid color between the red and orange that would be awesome.
Looking close at the side art for DK 3 I can't see any issue that would come from printing that as is.
Any advice, help, etc, etc is welcome.
Thanks

AWESOME ! thank you !
I'm going to DL that now. That will be the art that goes on my counter top arcade.
Can I easily remove the blue from around the DK side art ?

like this ?? (the corresponding pdf is attached too)

That is exactly what I was looking for, thank you very much.
I have a question, and perhaps someone could help.
I was asked to send the files I wanted printed in EPS form.
Now reading online the DK JR I DL'd from the above link is indeed AI.
I think I can easily save it as EPS and should have no issues.
My understanding is it would easily be die cut.
Im guessing the transparent section would simply be white as the material it is printed on is white.
(I dont know if that is a correct assumption)
Now with respects to the DK art, the image in the above posting by ZORG is indeed what I was looking for.
But I think perhaps the type of file could cause some issues. Or would I simply open it in illustrator, re size, and save as EPS ?
thank you guys

right

you should check with your printer, some plotter need a specific path in order to cie cut the corresponding shape.

you are right.

the pdf I posted will open in illustrator without problems.

Zorg, thank you very much for all your help.
I've now DL'd the DK 3 art, correct DK Jr art, and the DK 1 PDF file.
Im hoping my printer will be able to establish the path, etc.......afterall he is getting paid.
I'll simply open the PDF in illustrator and save it as EPS as per his request. Thank you.
I've included a picture of the paint I bought to do my three bar top machies.
I've paired them up with sanwa joysticks and buttons.
And as mentioned each is going to have some DK side art

If anyone has the illustrator file(s) for the original Donkey Kong side art without the blue and wants to send it to me that would be awesome. My email is vibefx@gmail.com
Thanks to Zorg for sending me the link for DK JR, that art is going to be perfect.
And thanks again to Zorg for having the amazingly well done AI files of the DK 3 side art !
Outstanding work, truly truly awesome.
My concern with the DK image is that with it not vector when the resolution is increased the quality might decrease ? Again I'm not very well schooled in Adobe illustrator (not to mention my CS2 disc is f**t!), I don't know if its as simple as the magic wand in Photoshop to remove the blue section.
thanks

the pdf I posted is 100% vector :D. you can edit it with illustrator. anyway I will provide you the illustrator file of the DK side.
edit: here it is

Awesome, thanks Zorg.
I was unsure of that (still a noob) :dunno, so thank you for clearing that up !
Now I have all three AI files in great shape, DK, DK Jr, and DK 3.
I need to get another copy of illustrator as mine is pooched, the printer wants me to re-size the images and save them as EPS. I guess he would charge me if he has to do it.
So once I get illustrator I can begin that and get them sent off.
Again I thank you very much for all your help and prompt responses.
thanks ! :)

Just wondering with all the DK artwork you got.. did you ever find any other DK3 artwork (AI) apart from the sideart that zorg did???
