Title: HyperSpin HQ Install issue, please help?!?!?
Post by: bsoder52 on October 09, 2009, 05:20:23 pm
I installed Hyperspin and it looks great!
I attempted to install the new version of HyperHQ and it doesn't seem to work.
First of all the download is the actual .exe file, not a zip file like the instructions on the download say. So I've attempted to overwrite the old HyperHQ.exe with the new version and it doesn't take.

At first it asks if i want to replace the old file with the new, and I click yes.
Then it says: "Cannot move HyperHQ: A file with the name you specified already exists. Specify a different name".

Not sure why it's telling my this becuase i wrote over the existing Hyperspin.exe file with no issues, and also overwrote the inital HyperLaunch files with no problem.

Sidenote: The new file downloads as HyperHQ0.5.0.3.exe, the inital install file is labeled HyperHQ.exe, so I changed the upgrade version file to HyperHQ.exe thinking it would overwrite the first file, no luck.

HELP!?!??!

This sounds less like a HyperHQ problem and more like a Windows problem.  You should be able to just overwrite the old version (hyperhq.exe) with the new version (hyperhq.exe).

Check your process monitor to make sure that you don't have a 'stuck' instance of hyperhq running, so you can't delete/overwrite the old one.  If that's not it then check your permissions on the file and repair as necessary.

You should be able to just overwrite the old one though  ???

Thanks for the advice.....I have a whole new issue now to deal with, when I was loading up some other software windows crashed or my HD crashed on me and I can't get the thing booted up again.  It was a HD and copy of XP I had gotten recently on the cheap.  Time to bite the bullet and buy a new CD of XP and a new clean HD.  Then I'll try to reinstall Hyperspin.  arrrggggg, why did I try to do this on the cheap, time wasted.
