Ok, mame is very unknow when it comes to system requirments but i just wanted to see what rig should i get to play some of these games.
-Pac-man
-DK
-Galaga
-Street fighter 2
-Mortal Kombat 2
-Killer instict 2
-Metal Slug 5
-Street fighter 3
For now the list is not going to change much this will be the main games to i want to really play this ones.
Thanks in advance

You'll need high specs because of DK, KI2, and SF3.
-
HIGH specs you meen like a core duo or something?
-
Can't say if you NEED a C2D, but I just double-checked and all this stuff works flawlessly on an E8500 on Vista x64.
-
well i have to reduce the costs to minimal in everything, so i would realy need some more exact requirments.
-
you can pick up a dual core 2 Ghz on tigerdirect pretty cheap. I use an AMD with 2 GB RAM for my cab and can run the stuff you mentioned.
-
Yeah but im not from the US, and dual cores on my country can go over 300$ and thats too much for me? No one knows the minimal requirments because a dual core sounds like an overkill for this games,
-
Take KI2 out of the list and you can play those on a single core 2 Ghz. (Also might have to rollback to an earlier MAME version, since DK requires a fast computer now)
-
alright thx for your help.

hey ginsu, i was curious...
i want to run all the MKs, all the SFs, all the KIs, etc....(big fighting fan here)...i would like to run the most recent fighting games if possible....
i just realized last night  that my AMD 1800+ with 1.2 gb of ram won't do it.... :banghead: so i am going to have to build a new PC...no biggie...done it a million times it feels like, just want to make sure i can run what i want....
i am going to grab an AMD II dual core 3.0ghz with 2 or 3gb of RAM with an ATI radeon card (256mb)....i am assuming this should be enough to run pretty much all mame games right?
-
There is no computer that can run everything in MAME, but the setup you just mentioned will put a nice dent in a lot of them. Just remember that MAME isn't about playing games.
-
no, understood....i meant that more figuratively than literal....
i am not out to run all games...just the lot i am most interested in....i am assuming that those specs, as you say, will put a rather large dent in that...
i am assuming though that those specs would cover all the fighting games mentioned above?? (and anymore you can think of ;) )
-
It'll run the ones you mentioned, yes.

I use one of these in my cab at home:

HP COMPAQ DC7600 2.8Ghz processor. I think I have 1.5GB of memory in mine.
It plays all of those games (I think, will check KI2 tonight as I have gone to mame 135 with CHD's). I run maximus arcade on mine and its all good.
So, not sure where you are from but take a look at refurbished office machines which are cheap typically.

All of these games
will play at full rate
with a Pentium 4 3.2Ghz.
That's how I'm currently playing them.
-
I play those on my AMD 4000+ 2.4 running XP64 with a 64bit compiled version of mameplus. No stutter on these. It really takes something like Blitz 2k or such to bring it to its knees. THe 64 bit version of XP and Mame make a big difference. I have both a 32 bit and 64 bit version running on same machine and wow the difference.

P4 2.5 w/ 1gb ram runs those fine.
