Title: House of the Dead easily upgraded/changed to other games?
Post by: shredso on October 03, 2009, 06:49:27 pm
I find one of the biggest things missing from my gameroom is a gun game.  I've tried the wii remotes and was very disappointed.  It seems like the only way to get a real gun game feel is by buying a real gun game.  I found a decent deal on an original House of the Dead, which is a cool game.  I just have a hard time taking up that much space by one game, I guess I'm spoiled by my MAME cab.  How tough would it be to switch between at the very least the different HOTD games?  Ideally I would like to have a Buck Hunter game in the mix too, but I think I was told thats virtually impossible.

As each HOTD game runs on a radically different hardware platform than the previous, you'd have to be swapping entire board sets to go form HOTD1, to HOTD2 to HOTD3 and so on.  It wouldn't exactly be easy.  HOTD3 and HOTD4 even use different guns unique to their title.

I was pretty happy with the gun cab I built. It had HOTD 1 2 and 3 running the pc versions as well as mame running games like Area51 etc and the sega 2 emulator running Timecrisis 2. Mala tied it all together with one menu (thanks to SGT) I used Topgun 2 for this cab which was for a friend and so now gone. I am thinking of buiding one from scratch with a large LCD.

However I found this the other day. For $40 worth a look
