About two weeks ago, the hard drive on my golden tee fore 2003 machine stopped working. It would power up, then make crazy loud whining noise, and on the screen it would say "detecting hard drive" Then, it would keep resettin after 35 seconds. I bought a new (refurbished?) hard drive off of some dude on ebay, he warranties them. Now the new hard drive powers up, no bad noises, but the game still just looks for the hard drive, then resets. Is this something with the board maybe? Has anyone else had a similar problem? I checked the power going to the drive, and it's right on with the power any other drive gets. Any thoughts would be depreciated.

Nothing on this? No one knows if that means it s the drive, or it could be the board?

IIRC, there was a thread on a similar situation on CGCC -- I don't recall the details other than hard drive and resetting.
I think this was the thread:

OK, after reading the link above (thanks), I realized this is probably the problem. The second hard drive I purchased didn't work, so the seller sent me a new one, this one keeps resetting, just like in the post linked. I need to know where to get a copy of the image for Golden Tee Fore 2003. Anyone in the long island area that owns a golden tee 2003 that can try their drive on my machine to make sure this is the problem. I'm getting pretty frustrated, looking to get this working. I wouldn't mind paying a little bit for a quick download. Thanks for any ideas.
EDITED: I also have the update cd for golden tee 2003. Anyone with experience with the golden tee series know if I could use this to basically install a fresh image? Would it not work since its already a 2003 machine? Thanks again for the help.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I did the system tests within the golden tee machine. The "NVRAM" test failed. anyone know that this means. "NVRAM CHECKSUM FAILED" is the message I get. I never tested this before, so I don't know if this was like this before my hard drive went when the game actually worked. Any help or a point in the right direction would be ridiculously appreciated. Also, still looking for fresh 2003 image.

Is there an onboard battery on those boards ?

Someone has a Golden Tee 2K machine for sale in Middletown, NY for $175. Perhaps you can buy it and then transfer the PCB and hard drive to your cabinet?

I think 2K is just a board. Hard drive versions came later.
There is a dude on Ebay that sells drives for under 30 bucks. I bought one as a spare while restoring my machine.

eh, the guy on ebay selling the hard drives is the one I bought the 2nd one from. I'm just buying a 2005 PCB and HDD. I can't take this crap anymore.

I'm gonna try the one I bought and see if my machine will boot with it. When I originally bought my machine, I thought the original drive was screwed up, but it ended up being a weird board problem.
