Title: Just got an All American Football cab
Post by: elpresidente on September 28, 2009, 09:37:17 pm
A few years back, I had planned on building a Mame cab. I bought some wood, made some cuts but that was about it. I had a strong desire to find some spring loaded sticks so I could play John Elway's Quarterback, a fav game of mine. About a year ago, I spotted what I thought was a JEQB in the corner of a local arcade room. Not sure if it worked, I talked to the owner about buying it at some point but didn't have the extra $$$ at the time. Well, I came into a couple bucks recently and I went ahead and snagged it. I paid $200 for it and that might be a bit more than what it's worth but it's a fully working machine of a game I really enjoyed at one time. After firing it up, I found that it's a Leland All American Quarterback. Now I can't find much about this game but what I do find shows a cabinet that includes a marquee. I'm now planning on restoring this and adding a marquee. The monitor is ok. There's a bit of burn in. The controls seem ok. The player one stick is a little gummy but quite playable. I'm sure I can either fix/clean it or replace it. I'd like to redo the CP as the player 4 portion of the overlay is missing and replace with some crap. Any advise on how to approach a project like this. I'm quite a noob and would appreciate any direction offered. I attached a couple pics along with a pic of a cab with the marquee.

Also, I'm going to be on the lookout for a Defender to fix up for my brother. Hard to find here for a cheap price.

In the example pic, you see a speaker grill under the marquee. I do wonder if short cabs of this were released or if someone hacked off the marquee on this one. I haven't really had much time to get inside it. The hour or so of time I've had with it has been spent playing the game.

You got a pretty good deal.  A working monitor, board, controls in a solid cab.  Buying just two springsticks can run you $100 or more now a days (or if you can find them in good shape at all).

Have fun!
