I have already decided to get a dedicated 4 way for older games, but I am undecided on what to use for 8 way and fighters.
What are people's recomendations?

The perfect 360's get alot of votes for strictly fighting sticks because they're smooth and reliable. They don't hit in the corners, they don't click, and there are no micros to wear out. They cost considerably (up to 4 times) more, though. I'll be using these if my budget allows.

I cast my vote for Happ Competition.

What types of sticks are used on, say....a capcom vs Marvel 2 game?
p360 are cool, but pricy
-
I have used Super, Competition, and J-sticks...
for SF games, I use Competition....
***note: if you use Zangief (or other character that does a lot of 360 moves...) you might want to use Super....
I have no pblm pulling out super moves and so on for Ryu / Ken using Competition....

SUPERS ! ;D
I like comps too but supers are for most games.
works great for fighters...yeah i probley play more fighters then anyone around here(nothing but fighters) :D

I hear alot of good things about supers. I'm not a big fighter person but I love my supers. To adjust sensitivity is to bend some acuator bars. That's cool.

Well when you're as good as me it doesn't matter which joystick you use. ;)
On my first machine I used supers and they worked fine. They don't use a traditional "bat" style joystick, though. It's sort of a "ball bat" thing.

Has anyone had luck bending the actuator levers on the microswitches to decrease the corner area on IL super type sticks? Right now, it feels like about 65% of a full circle is triggering a diagonal, while I would want it somewhere much closer to 50%.

p360, Competitions or supers are all great....
just get one... Then they are the best... but I have comps and supers... So I can notice the difference.
supers are better all arounds... comps are better for SF (unless you play Zang)... But if you only play with supers, you don't notice it.

i have supers and once you get used to the small movement required to actually make it click, its easy to pull off everything.
a $#!t load easier than when i had to learn ken/ryu's dragon punch with the SNES pad back in the day :-X

I have Supers on my whole cabinet EXCEPT on player 2 I have a COMPETITION because I like they way it feels better for fighting games and I like the player 2 postion. I like to feel the corners just a little so some of those moves stand out more (ending ken and ryu's uppercut with diagonal). My 2cents
