Anyone have experience using this with racing games (i.e. Championship Sprint, etc)? I've read a few comments on the mini-wheel in the archives, but couldn't find much on it overall. I'm interested in how well it performs.

Thanks for starting this thread! I've been sort of laying low wondering whether or not to get one myself. I'll be interested to see what people say.

I have one but haven't used it extensively. I do find that it give you better control over the small spinner knob.

Yeh TT2 nice spinner I have an Apache HI-LO spinner for Disc's of Tron and use the TT2 spinner for other games. Works great for driving games with the optional wheel or without. So if you dont have money to spend on a driving panel with full size wheels then this is the best option. WORKS Great IMO

Yup. The first thread was the only one that seemed to talk about the wheel in any detail and the latter thread, the author didn't review the wheel.
My main interest is people that have used it for awhile on an actual cabinet (unlike the first review, which while nice isn't on an actual cabinet).

OOC, which driving games have you used it with?

A spinner is like a 360 degree driving wheel, the other type is a 270 degree steering wheel which is like the new driving games you see today. But the spinner barely works with them if at all. pole position, super sprint and ivan stewart off road racing are games Ive used with the spinner with and they work great. Here is a list of driving games and the right controls youll need for them. Oh yeh you might come across a 900 degrees steering wheel but is basically compared to a 270 degree wheel which are know as Analog wheels and 360 wheels are optical wheels

I find it great, if a bit pricey. Go for the 7" wheel if you can sretch to it as it raises comfortably off the surface of your control panel, for a better grip.

I have the 7" and I love it. I don't play a lot of driving games (which is why I went this route). The only "complaint" I have received is that it doesn't feel quite right because it is not on an angle (like a normal wheel would be). Instead it is flat. However the game play and weight is great... hope this helps

I'm still new to Mame, and I'm building my cabinet now. I'm thinking about putting a spinner, especially now that I see you can attach a wheel. My question is how do you guys use the wheel for the driving games? What emulate the gas and brake? i'm assuming you just use buttons for the gas and brake, along with the wheel? Probably a stupid question, but I had to ask it just in case you guys have a better idea. I saw one control panel that somebody made with the spinners on an angle. Awesome idea!!

If going this route, you can simply assign buttons within comfortable reach as accelerator and brake functions, and a couple more as gear shift buttons. Alternatively, you can use one of your joysticks as a shift stick if you want to add a little more realism. If your spinner is placed close to the centre of your panel, you should easily find comfortable controls within reach either side of the wheel, so you can assign butons for both left and right-handed play.

Thanks for all the replies. I feel more confident about getting the spinner w/ the wheel and will definitely go for the 7" model.
Also FWIW, I plan to use computer pedals for racing games. I imagine that would work, just a matter of connecting the pedals as a joystick and the spinner as a mouse.

there are 2 types of pedal analog and microswitch make sure you get a microswitch unless you have a hook up for Analog, i think your better off with analog but if yo dont have an A-pac then just get a microswitch pedal. Driving controls can be tricky there are alot of different combination you come up against. Thats why im building a seperate panel with 2 types of wheels and swappable shifters,
