Title: Any suggestions on my first CP build...
Post by: mingaling on September 25, 2009, 02:53:30 am
Ok think I have figured most of what I need...

Things I have...
2 Perfect 360
3" Happ Illuminated Trackball/assembly with mounting bracket
1/2 player buttons (not going to illuminate)
100 .187 Female Insulated Plugs

Things I need...
16 Electric Ice buttons
12 Micro-leaf switches
1 Key-Wiz Max 1.5
2 LED-Wiz 32-port
1 Opti-Wiz
1 Happ Ultimate Joystick (4-way)
1 Spinner (the whole assembly)
4 Happ buttons

I plan on full RGB control for 16 buttons (do I also run the trackball through the Led-Wiz?).  I will be using a powered USB hub.
I welcome any suggestions and advice.

Thanks for helping me with my first Cab!
Alan

you can get power from the computers PSU.

as far as the ledwiz depends..

you could just link p1 and p2 leds together.. in this way you only need half as many lines for the lighting..

the pro's to this is you save money on a 2nd ledwiz, 32 control lines go pretty quick when you're doing RGB leds.

the down side is you loose some flexibility in animations.

the happ comp joysticks are 8 way though.. not 4 way.. not sure if they have restrictor plates or what but normally they're  8 way.

for the trackball/spinner you'll need a Opti-Wiz, a keywiz or gp wiz wont work for those.

Thanks Beretta!  Saved me a little money from ordering the wrong 4-way.  Edited the post to reflect your suggestions.

you might want to reconsider that 4way.  the general consensus around here is that happ ultimate joysticks suck.   i have used a few 4way sticks, and by far my favorite is the Sanwa JLW.  it is a 4/8way switchable stick.(you switch by rotating a restrictor plate on the bottom)  we just leave it in 4way mode and it is excellent.

I think I read that somewhere!  Thanks for reminding me ;).  SOOOOOO many hours reading the forums for ideas and reviews... a few have been forgotten along the way heh.  I figured Happ is generally good quality and it has the same appearance as the Perfect 360s.  I will check out the Sanwa.  Thanks.
