Title: AVerMedia AVerKey Imicro Scan Converter (anybody using this?)...
Post by: MKFan4Life on September 22, 2009, 10:58:34 am
I recently got an AVerMedia AVerKey Imicro scan converter for $8 at the local jockey lot.  The guy explained what it did, (which I pretty much knew, but played dumb to get a decent price).  He let it go with a very long set of AV cables (RCA stereo audio and composite video), and the AC/DC adapter.

It basically is made to connect a pc to a standard tv or big screen tv.  It has a SCART output on it, and I was wondering if that could be used to build a lead to a normal arcade monitor?  If so, would it have to be a standard res monitor, or could you interface it to a MEDIUM res monitor?

I was wondering, because I have a Gauntlet Legends dedicated cabinet that could pull double-duty as a Mame cab if I can get the video going and some adapters to use the optical joysticks with Mame.  I already have seen a project doing something like this with this cab using the same optical joysticks.  I think he went with an ArcadeVGA card, but since I picked this up so cheap, I'd like to use it if possible.  What do you guys think?

Anyone using a scan converter AT ALL for Mame to interface with an arcade monitor?  Thanks.
