Title: Capcom Anthology
Post by: FrizzleFried on September 21, 2009, 01:54:09 pm
This isn't really a restoration,  so I figured I'd put it here.   Among the 14 games I picked up in a lot find I managed to acquire a few months back was a pretty decent looking Dynamo Cab with a Street Fighter II: The World Warriors kit installed.  Having sold my last 25" JAMMA cab,  I decided this was going to be one of my "keepers".  I figured I'd pick up one of the 18-in-1 Capcom CPSII multigame kits and drop that in the cab.   It took me a while to get to this cab as I had others I need to get going and sold before messing with this one,  but I finally got some $$ and time to work on it...

First I got the multigame kit... I picked it up from a KLOVian for a nice price...  I'd expected the worst at the price i paid,  but the kit fired up and worked great! Good enough that I decided that I was going to go with some sort of Capcom Multigame "theme".  I then came across a NOS Capcom "diamond plate" CPO and that got the ball rolling.  I spent a week or so going back and forth on the custom marquee and bezel... i shot the artwork over to Scott at MAMEMARQUEES.COM and he printed them up for me.  They came out great.   I also bought two new IL sticks,  all new buttons (competition style),  a couple of CFL's for the marquee light,  a couple of 555 builbs for the coin door and new blue T-molding.    After getting everything together I've realized I'm not too keen on the color choices for the P2 side...so that will likely be changed soon... but for now it's fine.

I am also considering picking up the Capcom CPS1 multigame PCB and adding it in the cab as well with a JAMMA switcher.   For now though,  the game plays great,  looks good,  and the insides are easily accessible as this model Dynamo has the pull out "tray" that comes out from the control panel area.  Good stuff.

My only gripe would be that there is no high score save on the multigame board.  Oh well... oh yeah,  and the blue T-molding's color pretty much sucks.  I thought it would match the HAPP push button blue,  but it doesn't...it's darker...I checked a few sources and it seems I am stuck with the crappy dark blue or a crappy light blue (that is much lighter than the HAPP push button blue).  I chose to stick with the darker as it's here and paid for, etc... If I had known the blue sucked as much as it does,  I'd likely have just went with some new black T-Molding.

Here are some shots...

Looks absolutely wonderful...except for those P2 controls. Dude, what were you thinking?!? Have you been watching Tradings Spaces or something?

I think you should have the same button colors, and a red joystick. That would look nice.

Actually I was thinking the very same thing.  Either that,  or go with Blue stick black buttons on one side and black stick blue bottons on the other.  I am leaning toward just sticking with red/white/blue on the buttons to keep that "Capcom Street Figher" look/feel though.

The red/white/blue button combo looks awesome with your artwork. Don't change that.

I like the red, white, blue buttons.  That is a sweet looking cab.

Well,  I hate the P2 colors enough that I just ordered new buttons and a new red stick.  Now to figure out how/where to off a green stick and purple, orange, and green buttons...

Cab looks good, but I agree, the button colors need to change back to red, white, and blue.

What games does the multigame kit have on it?

It scares/impresses me that you lined up the diamond plate pattern on the bezel and the control panel.

 :dizzy:

Very nicely done.

You didn't know that frizz was a stickler like that? If it wasn't lined up, he's go nuts!
