I have a Street Fighter 2 CE but I can't seem to get the sound to work. I've tried the obvious. The speaker wires are connected. I can hear a low hiss in the speakers, so I know they're getting power. I've tried adjusting the volume pot. I can't seem to find a volume adjustment in the game settings. Is there one? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you measured your 12V output from your supply?
-
Yes. It is 12.7 V.

Did you try the volume pot on the pcb itself or were you just referring to a cabinet volume pot ?
-
The one on the PCB. I couldn't find one on the cabinet. Is there another one?

I don't know what your cabinet may have in it...... most people refer to a volume pot and they are just talking about the cabinet pot and don't realize there is even one on the pcb.
All it takes is a quick look to follow speaker wiring and see if it leads to a cabinet pot or not.
Usually right inside the coin door area or mounted to the cabinet wall somewhere reachable.
(if there is one at all)

There is a spot for a volume control, but there isn't one. Does this game have a sound board or is it all in the chips?

Are there wires just hanging there ?
There's no other sound board for that particular game, it's all onboard.
-
Nope. No disconnected wires anywhere.

1. Does the cabinet volume pot connect in series with the speaker wires or is there a control wire that connects the pot to the board?
2. Where would it connect?
3. Anyone know where I can get the schematics for this game?

After doing a lot of research I found that Capcom CPS-1 machines were originally designed for the Z80A processor(It's even silk screened for it) and built with the Z80 to save money. Evidently, this cheaper processor has a higher failure rate. Even though the sound test showed the processor passed, I changed it anyway. I now have all sounds working. Just thought I'd update this post in case anyone else has this problem.

I never would have even thought about something like that.

Here's a link to some really good troubleshooting information on the Capcom CPS-1/CPS-2 machines.
