I attended the Herrin Illinois 5th annual Pinball Supershow today. 3rd year in a row for me.
Rob Craig did a great job again. I took a lot of pics.
-
Quality of the pics is not as good as I would like. I did not use a flash as that bugs the players and does not help the colors of the machines.
-
Certainly not as exciting as you might get from hot-chick pics of DragonCon,
but exciting in a different way, I guess.
-
Thanks for the pics. It looks like it was an awesome show. I guess this could be the last one for a while, which is a real bummer. I really wanted to go this year, but with the new baby it home it just wasn't possible. Rob Craig is awesome, and hopefully he knows how much we hobbyists appreciate what he does for the pinball collector's community.

True, but for most people, this is the only way they ever get exposed to anything other than current Sterns.

Pinball shows all look the same, and everyone looks bored when they play....
People rarely look anything but bored when playing pinball anyway. It's not like you're going to be jumping around or just constantly laughing and smiling. Most people have a pretty blank stare while playing and will stand mostly still aside from some nudging and bumping.
These shows wouldn't draw big numbers each year if the attendees weren't having fun.
-
I have 100+ more pics but they look the same as all the pics I took last year.
I took an .avi movie of that one curved surface pin in action Orbitor 1, and an .avi of . . . sort-of pinball Hyperball
-
Thanks for posting the pics. Orbitor is an awesome game! Not sure I'd want one in my house unless i had a ton of room. No other pin quite like it.
I want that World Series baseball pin. If I ever get an older pin it's going to be baseball related i think. I grew up playing high caliber ball :)
-
Yeah, I played a really nice Orbitor a couple of years ago. It was cool but felt like a novelty EM. Something you like to play once or twice a year but not worth having yourself.
-
This baseball thing was cool. I also got a good score, AFAIK.
-
Nice backglass. Odd theme.
-
More people bored senseless.

Haunted House: Want :'(
Bored? I think just intently Focused. Pinball tends to require a high level
of focus to maintain a long game.
If you see a person who is new to a good game, they may giggle like a
school girl.
Pretty much the same as anything really. Only thrill sports might resort in
"giddy" reactions.
-
It's on my wantlist too, though. I dig it.
-
Haunted House isnt that deep. Its just fun.
It seems to kick my butt quite well. My buddy who has owned the thing
for years even gets it handed to him too.
The game is a bit unpredictable, with its unusual flow and reversed flipper
actions needed when the ball goes underground... and then returns up.
Or how you have to be quick to get the 2nd set up flippers in play all
the sudden. You have to get used to fast switch-ups that come out of the blue.
The playfeild flow is erratic too. Can easily trick you.
His is in great shape... and that makes a world of
difference. A carved up field can slow ball speeds down drastically.
Love the theme and music too.
Alltime Classic.
