Title: MameWah screen saver video volume
Post by: clhug on September 19, 2009, 11:59:16 am
I did a search for this and couldn't find anything that directly addressed this specific issue.  Is there a "volume" setting for the screen saver videos in MameWah?  Or any other suggestions for how to handle the issue described below?

I'm using MameWah as my front end and EmuMovies as my screen saver for MameWah.  The problem I have is that the volume on the movies is really loud compared to the volumes of the games themselves once I go into a game.

If I set the volume level so that the videos aren't too loud, you can't hear the games at all when you actually go into a game.  (In a totally quiet room if you listen close you can barely hear them, but in a room with anyone else in it having a conversation you can't hear it at all over the conversation.)  If I turn it up so I can hear the game reasonably, then when I go back out MameWah and the movies kick in for a screen saver, they are so loud I can hear them all over the entire house, and this is a 4 level split level house with the game in the basement.

I didn't see a setting in the mamewah config files to be able to set a volume level specifically for the movies being used in the screen saver.  If it exists, I missed it, and please point me to it.

Or if there is another way to solve this, please let me know.

Thank you.

Have a look in mamewah.ini: (v1.62)

music_movie_mix        mute_movies            (mute_movies / merge / pause_music)
movie_volume             100                           (0-100%)

Personally, I have my movies muted using the method above but it looks like it could be your answer.

Thanks!  That movie_volume setting did it.  I've seen that before but I guess I wasn't sure what I was thinking and why I never just went ahead and tried it.  I was expecting something to be under the Screen Saver section.

I don't use any background music.  I like the video game sounds from the movies to act kind of as an "attract" mode.
