Hi
I just made capkit for K7000. The colours are much better, however I still have problems:
1. Green jail bars.
2. The image at the very bottom seems to squeezed.
3. (The worst) vertical position pot doesn't work at all and image is a little of center.
I would like to resolve especially the last problem.

Pics!

Green jail bars was bad expression, this looks more like green horizontal lines.
I couldn't get all effects on pictures, so I made videos.
This is how it looks, when there is nothing connected to the monitor.

And here with MK2 (when in a game the lines aren't so visible, but still got the shifted picture problem):

The only real problem I note is your brightness is up too high causing those retrace lines. Turn down the screen control slightly on your flyback.
I don't see the shifted picture. I can see it's not up to the top of the tube, but if you do that you'll start cutting things off @ the corners.
-
Turning down the screen control helped a lot, thanks.
I don't think that centering the picture has to do anything with loss of the pixels in corners. I resoldered that v-pos pot and it still doesn't work :-\
I also noticed, that when I extend the picture vertically, the upper lines seems to be wider. Can it be linearity problem?
-
Oh, now I get it; adjust the 50/60Hz pot, that should fix things.
-
It fixed the bottom that was squeezed, however the upper part still have bad linearity.
-
The monitor problems are almost over. Everything fixed, except the vertical position. I dunno how can I center the image. Common guys, I know you can help.
-
I have one right now with the same vertical shift problem. (not quite enough UP movement)
IF .... I decide to look into it I'll let you know.
(it's adjustable enough in other ways to not really bother with)
-
That's great, i'll wait than.
-
Ok, so I finally spotted that one of the v-pos pot leg is broken. How to fix that?
-
Depending on the break you could solder a piece of wire to the ends to bridge the gap, or you could replace the pot.
-
Can I buy such a pot in regular electronic store?
-
It depends on how much stuff one of those stores carries. Radio Shack? Doubtful.
You might ask and see if someone has one they'll drop in a padded envelope for you. Otherwise it'll cost you big in shipping.
-
I replaced the pot and it is working!
However I made a really big mistake with changing also the C51 capacitor (0.68 uf 35v) to 1uf. I just thought that i'll save some time later, but I was wrong. With new capacitor I can't get enough height and the upper lines are squeezed. Now the problem is that I can't put the old cap again, because accidentally I broke one of its leg, so I must buy a new one. Do you know where can I get it from?
-
Can i replace C51 tantalum cap (0.68 uf 35 v) with the semi tantalum cap?
-
Replaced the cap and... finally! Everything works perfect, thanks to you guys!
I have final question with 50/60 pot. If I adjust it to 60 hz, than games like mortal kombat are cut off at the bottom (it runs 53 hz) and if I adjust this pot to 53 hz, than when in 60 hz resolution, there is a squeeze at the upper lines. Is there possibility to adjust it, that 50 and 60 hz resolutions will display properly? It would be great as I use a mame cabinet with soft15khz and I change games and resolutions a lot.
