Title: Mounting on vinyl siding
Post by: hypernova on September 17, 2009, 08:53:09 pm
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I need or should use to mount my Clearstream 2 antenna onto vinyl siding.  It's about 2 ft by 3 ft.  I'm wanting to get my antenna as high as possible.  Right now, it's on some fancy wood thingy above my back patio, which is about half the height of the two-story house, and full height would be right at the apex of the vinyl siding, avoiding placment on the actual shingle roof.

What are my best options?  I've always had brick prior to this, as a kid, and in my starter home.  Siding's a whole lot different.

Different, but underneath it's easier than brick.  Under that you'll have a moisture barrier, plywood, framing, insulation.  If it's light enough that you can just use the plywood, great.  If it's heavier than that find the framing.

locating the studs under the siding will be interesting. However, that's probably how you should do it. Lag bolt it in and use a silicone caulk to seal under/around the heads of the bolts.
