Can I get it through a usb cable? Also how do I wire ground, I know I need to connect all the player 1/player 2 controls then connect them to their grounds, do I need ground from anywhere else?
-
Short answer: No
Long answer: Maybe. The GP-Wiz connects to the PC via USB. If you connect a hacked USB cable to the encoder to draw more power, unless it's from a powered hub or a different USB controller, you will just be giving it another connection to the same voltage it's already being supplied with.
The better answer is to get the power from...the power supply. Connect to red (+5v) and black (ground) and you'll be set.

Check out the video here on how to connect LEDs to power supplies. It should help.

I don't really understand your question.
Do you mean how do supply/connect 5v/ground for your GPwiz?
If so you dont need to. The GPwiz is powered from the attached usb cable and ground in the same way. You need to daisy chain the common (ground) terminals from all of your micro's and then connect them to the GND terminal.
If you are asking how to get 5v power from your GPwiz I'm not sure if there is a 5v output like the IPAC family.
If this is your question, what are you looking to power?

yeah also when you daisy chain your grounds, take a little extra time to run a ground from the first button as well as the last button in the chain to your control interface of choice.
that way if one of the grounds gets loose your control panel will still function.

Yes of course GGG controllers have +5v. Have for ages.

Ummon. Rather than than the 'I know the answer' replies you often seem to give, it would help if you clarified and/or gave us insight to your greater understanding.

A-hmh hmh hmh hmh hmh. Um, well, it says so on the GGG pages for those products - PS/2 and USB keywiz models, as well as the Optiwiz. Should also say on the info page that is supposed to come with them.
