Title: Stupid Question - Admin Buttons
Post by: ZippySLC on July 14, 2003, 04:47:38 pm
Okay, I have a really stupid question.

I added four admin buttons on the front of my control panel for Mame functions such as Exit, Service Mode, etc.

I have them wired to the "extra" buttons on my IPAC (1P button 7 & 8, 2P button 7 & 8).

Can I change MAME to use those keystrokes to escape/pause/service/etc. or should I reprogram the IPAC to send whatever keystroke Mame wants.

I would imagine that it's easier to change Mame than reprogram the IPAC.

Also, these were the buttons I was thinking:

Service Mode
Menu
Pause
Exit (ESC)

Anyone have any better ideas?

If other peple will be using the machine I would recommend removing any buttons they could use to change it or mess it up. Buttons like "Enter", "Esc", "Pause" are safe. Others would scare me.

The buttons are hidden - nobody will be messing with them but me really.

Change mame, use ctrlr files too, they will work from one version of mame to the next :)

Also you can use the ipac's shift function to do this.

I have just quit and pause on my control panel.  Pause is my shift buttons.  I use player 2 buttons 1 and 2 to load and save.
